The Civil War 1861-1865
Southern Politician, Slave, and Northern Soldier
The Northern Soldier
The life of a Northern Soldier was very difficult. They had long hours, poor food and shelter, boredom, and fear on the battlefield. In their freetime, they usually write letters back home to their loved ones. They recieved many too. They played card games, read, pitched horses, and played team sports. In the Civil War the Northereners were the ones against slavery and defending slaves. They fought against the South who was for slavery. I think even though the Northern Soldiers knew what they did was hard, they were okay standing up for what they believe in. If they lost this war, slaves would probably continue in the U.S. The Northerm soldiers carried 45-50 pounds of material! If I was a Northern Soldier I'd feel good about myself and that I was doing what I believed was right.
The Southern Politicians got a lot of critism and hate from people against slaves. They were the ones
The Southern Politicians got a lot of critism and hate from people against slaves. They were the ones that wanted to continue slavery. Mostly because they made so much money off slaves who grew cotton. Also, when the South went off to fight, they still had people working their farms. I think they only wanted slaves to use them and to make more money. I found out the Southern Politicians tried to sell cotton to Great Britian. A famous Southern Politician was Jefferson Davis. If I was a Southern Politician, I'd feel like if we lost this war, then I'd loose so much.
