Principal's Message
One of the topics that I brought up with my Principal Advisory Committee this week was the idea of having a growth mindset. We spent some time identifying our individual strengths and weaknesses and discussing ways that we can continue to grow in all areas. A growth mindset is the belief that talents can be developed through hard work, good strategies, and the help of others while a fixed mindset is the belief that talent are innate gifts. Those with a growth mindset typically achieve more than those with a fixed mindset! This is one of the areas that is addressed through the panorama survey that is given in the fall and spring. One of our building goals focuses upon learning about and developing a growth mindset and we will spend part of our professional development day on Tuesday diving deeper into our building information.
Have a great weekend.

You may be wondering... How is ProgressBook different from Schoology?
Schoology is the learning management system teachers use to post daily assignments, grades, & other class resources. Monitoring your child's progress throughout the school year can be done through Schoology, where ProgressBook is the site used to view report cards at the end of each grading period. In case you're interested, here are some district-provided parent resources for Schoology.
Treats for Troops!!!
Hello GMS students, and parents. The Grizzell Gives Back Club is excited to announce our first event of the 2021 school year. We are sponsoring Treats for Troops, which is a candy collection program that donates leftover Halloween candy to deployed military and veterans. During the week of November 1st, we will be collecting leftover candy that is individually wrapped (chocolate is accepted). In addition to collecting candy, we are also accepting monetary donations to cover the cost of shipping. Our goal is to collect 25 pounds of candy and $100 for shipping costs. Students can drop off candy and money as they enter school each morning. We hope that you take part in this donation to Treats for Troops!
Thank you!
SOS Prevention Program Screening in Health Classes November 16th/17th
Dublin City Schools takes pride in providing a holistic education to our students, thus mental health and wellness instruction is an important part of our student’s educational experience. Mental health and wellness topics, including depression awareness and suicide prevention, take place during Health class.
The district has chosen to use the SOS Signs of Suicide® Prevention Program and Red Flags
curricula for the depression awareness and suicide prevention instruction. These programs
have proven to be successful at increasing help seeking by students who are concerned about
themselves or a friend.
