COVID-19 Updates
Dear BCS Community,
“The bottom line is, if you don’t need to travel right now, don’t….we’ll need to dig deep and double our efforts so we can protect the most vulnerable and keep our schools open, and our businesses. Simply refusing to do your part is dangerous to the rest of us.” - Gov. Phil Scott
As the number of COVID-19 cases increase across our state and region, we continue to prioritize in-person learning. At the same time we have a responsibility to keep staff and students as safe as we can. It is critical that we continue to follow important guidance: avoid social gatherings of more than 10 individuals, stay 6 feet apart, wear a mask, wash your hands, and stay home when sick.
As the holiday season approaches, we want to remind all families of Vermont’s guidelines.
Travel:
Due to rising COVID-19 case counts across the Northeast, effective on November 10, 2020, the State of Vermont has suspended its leisure travel map and implemented a mandatory quarantine for anyone returning or traveling to Vermont.
As the holidays approach, please keep in mind the importance of following state guidance regarding travel and plan accordingly. The state is strongly discouraging out-of-state travel. Should your family travel out of state, you and your children will need to quarantine upon return.
Please complete this survey to let us know what your travel plans are so that we can plan. You can also let your child's principal know if your family will be traveling out of state for the holiday so your children's teachers can plan ahead for remote instruction.
Please remember that we cannot enroll an in-person student in the OCSU Remote Academy for the duration of a quarantine.
Thank-you for partnering with us so that we can keep our schools open.

Please check with your child’s teacher if you have questions.
Contact Tracing Video
Vermont Department of Health's new video, "How Contact Tracing Slows the Spread of COVID-19," is a brief video (1 minute, 42 seconds) to help educate people about how contact tracing works, why it’s an important tool to slow the spread of COVID-19, and to encourage people to answer the call if they are called by a contact tracer.

Reminders
Masks:
Please remember to send your child to school with a cloth mask. We will have extras on hand to provide students who may forget, damage, or lose them. Children over the age of two will be required to wear them in school and on the bus, per state guidelines.
Sick Children:
If your child is not feeling well, please keep them home. It is critical for the safety of everyone that we do our best to limit the possibility of exposure. We all have a role in making sure our staff and students are safe. We will be following guidelines from the Health Department when a child presents any symptoms at school
