Second Semester Plans
Dear Parents,
Based on our experiences with the unpredictability of COVID-19 data, we are unable to state how we will begin the second semester at this time (virtual, hybrid or full capacity.) However, plans need to be made as soon as possible to prepare for this new semester. Therefore, we have developed a plan to service those who would like to remain online for the entirety of the second semester (Option #1) and those who will return in person when possible (Option #2).
Option #1: Full Online Learning
Students will be placed in a full online program through Edgenuity Online Learning. This will be a full semester option (18 weeks) that will mirror as close as possible the students’ curriculum choices and needs for graduation.
Students must have adequate internet access and provide their own technology (laptop, desktop, etc.).
Teaching is completed in a video and written format on-line.
Testing must be scheduled with the school and completed in person.
No assignments will be bypassed; free roam will not be an option.
Students are self-paced in this program with guidance that classes must be completed within the 18 week semester. (No classes will rollover to the next semester.)
Attendance will be based on daily completed work in classes.
Students must attend school to participate in both KAOL and Arizona State Assessments including Galileo, AZSci, and AZM2.
Option #2: Follow the KAHS schedule
Students will follow their previously created schedule. Students will abide by the school recommended format of either virtual (using Google Classroom), hybrid (A/B schedule), or full in-person education.
Students will complete all work as directed by each teacher.
When virtual or hybrid, students will work via Google Classroom as directed.
Students will continue to complete required attendance daily through their English class.
Any student who chooses this path and then decides NOT to return to in-person and wants to stay online will be dropped from all classes and registered into the full online learning plan offered in Option #1. Please note these classes cannot be averaged together. Students will be starting over in order to earn credits.
You must make a decision by Tuesday, December 15th in order to allow the KAHS office staff time to alter schedules.
To make your choice, please do the following:
Complete the Google Form (see link bar below).
Sign the academic contract if choosing Option #1/Full Remote Learning. (Second link bar below.)
Email the signed academic contract back to me at jperea@kaolaz.org .
Should you have any questions, please call the high school office at 928.681.2900.
I look forward to a successful and exciting second semester!
Jen Perea
