March 17, 2017
Good afternoon, Mustangs!
Many thanks to those of you who were able to attend the Community Meetings sharing the 5-Year Growth Plan. If you still have questions, please submit them to me or the district office as they continue to accept input and address concerns. The second reading for the proposed rezoning plan will be on Tuesday, March 21.
Student Led Conferences are beginning this week! Our kindergarten and first grade students go first in this endeavor and will be showcasing how they use their data to set goals. I am so very proud of each student! Do note that this is a school-wide effort for 100% student participation so this is why all conferences are during the school day. If you are not able to attend please do not get worried. The entire administrative team along with all available staff will be attending conferences.
Tuesday, March 21, at 7:00 a.m. is our Counselors' Midway Moments for students and their parents. A light breakfast will be served. Many thank to our Counselors for giving our students and parents this opportunity!
Have a great weekend and read something fun!!!

Please sign up to volunteer for Field Day! We need your help!
We're getting ready for The REAL Superhero Field Day Friday, April 07th
Morning Shift Field Day from 8:30 am to 11:00 am
Afternoon Shift Field Day from from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm
This year our Field Day will be about our Real Super Heroes.....our teachers. They work hard every school day and then bring their work home with them. Our Super Heroes are planning their lessons, reaching and teaching, and keeping our school safe.
Our Real Super Hero Field Day will be an all day event from 9-1:30. We will have many stations for our students to participate in but we also need volunteers to assist us. We will have over 35 stations and we need lots of volunteers to run the stations. Having adults at stations makes the station run smoothly and allows our kids to have a safe time playing. We have two volunteer times, one is 8:30 -11 and 11:00 - 1:30. Please help our children have a fantastic time before Spring Break.
Thank you,
Laura Gates

Parents and visitors are invited to use their smart phones to participate in our QR Code Scavenger Hunts. Parents and visitors should make sure they have a QR reader app such as "Quick Scan" or "Qrafter" installed on their smart phone or tablet. Enjoy!
More TypingQuest Progress
Our MES students continue to improve their keyboarding skills using the TypingQuest program. In addition to 5th graders Tanner Larsen, Brooks Orr, and Owen McLane, 3rd graders Jesse Carlisle and Aubrey Lamberth are keyboarding 32 words per minute with 90% accuracy based on typing assessments they have taken in TypingQuest. There are many students in grades 3, 4, and 5 who are close to these scores. Students receive a gold punch card once they are able to type 32 WPM with 90% accuracy.
Teachers sign up for lab time when their student can practice their keyboarding skills with the TypingQuest program but students can also practice at home by going to this webaddress: https://goo.gl/Z6QitR or scanning this QR code with a QR Reader.
