CAMPUS CREW INFORMATION
Dear Cold Spring Families,
Spring has finally arrived, and it’s time to get back to work on our butterfly gardens. You may remember that our Campus Crew completely dug up, weeded, planted and mulched the gardens last year. We also continued to weed the gardens throughout the fall. Last fall, we also planted many bulbs that you donated. Some of the bulbs are now blooming, but the gardens need weeding.
To complete this task, we are asking for Campus Crew members or new members with a parent to join us on Wednesday, April 17th at 3:30. Please bring a garden tool that will help you to loosen the soil and remove the weeds. We are asking for parent assistance this time since some of the children are not sure which plants to remove.
If you are able to join us, please email me at: ddougher@cbsd.org. I look forward to seeing you next week.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Donna Dougherty

A NOTE FROM THE SCHOOL NURSE
Hope everyone is healthy and enjoying the warmer weather!
Here are a few tips for safe and healthy spring:
Since children are outside more for sports and activities, care must be taken to protect the skin.
- Light clothing with long sleeves when possible, as well as hats and staying in the shade offer good protection.
- It’s also important to put on sunscreen before going out. School days are no exception as children are exposed during recess periods.
- Children should be checked each evening for ticks. If a deer tick is found, remove it promptly. If flu-like symptoms occur, a circular red rash develops at the site or if you think the tick was in place for 24 hours or longer, call your physician.
Care must also be taken to prevent injuries. Students must wear proper foot attire while in school. Sneakers offer the best support. Flips-flops and sandals can be dangerous during running games at recess and even while students are navigating the hallways and stairs.
- Allergy season is in full bloom. If your student takes allergy medication or eye drops during the spring, please make certain they receive them before coming to school. We can instill Visine drops as needed but do not stock any other allergy medicine unless you have an individual order.
Please contact the Health Office if you have any questions or concerns at (267) 893-3815 or E mail me at sbredin@cbsd.org.
Thank you,
Stella Bredin RN
Certified School Nurse
FORGOTTEN ITEMS TABLE
We just wanted to remind everyone that there is a table located outside of the office door to leave those items that you would like to drop off for your child. Please clearly mark each item with your child's name and teacher name. Pencils and note paper are on the table.
We check the table regularly and will deliver the items promptly. Thank you!
