Profile of a Graduate
Profile of a Graduate is coming to elementary in a more meaningful way!
Starting quarter 4 we will be launching our Profile of a Graduate scales in Preschool through 5th Grade classes. Teachers will spend time explaining what each Profile of a Graduate skill is and what it takes to be successful in that skill. They have created scales (laid out just like the elementary math scales) to help explain to students what skills they need and what vocabulary is important to know. Teachers and students will use these scales to rate themselves on each Profile of a Graduate skill. Those results will be shared with parents twice during the quarter. This will replace the behavior grades that teachers typically mark in PowerSchool. Below is an example of our 2nd-3rd Grade Responsibility scale. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to your childβs teacher or Mrs. Wood. Please see an example below.
Elementary Reunification Drill
At some point, student/parent reunification circumstances may occur that require parents to pick up their students in a formalized, controlled release someplace other than the school. This process is called a Reunification and may be necessary due to weather, a power outage, hazmat or if a crisis occurs at the school. The Standard Reunification Method is a protocol that makes this process more predictable and less chaotic for all involved.
On Friday, March 31st the Wilton students in grades Preschool through 6th will be conducting a reunification drill at 2pm. During this time, we will simply be walking over to Sacred Heart Church to practice for such an emergency that would call for us to leave the school grounds.
Each elementary class will walk with their teacher to the church and see the area that is designated for them. The purpose of this drill is to scale out the church and assign areas/rooms to certain grade levels so that students and staff know where to go if necessary. After the conduction of this drill the safety committee will continue planning for a full debrief and announcement of our Reunification Plan to staff and parents.
Please contact Mrs. Wood if you have any questions.
