This week we...
- read Animal Park and discussed literary non-fiction
- discussed this week's focus question: What can we learn about wild animals from watching them?
- used the writing process to write a story using our opinion of our favorite pet
- focused on the concept of cause and effect in our small reading groups
- reviewed the short u sound
- identified final consonant blends /st/, /nt/ /mp/, /sp/, /lt/, /nd/, and /lk/
- discussed explanatory sentences!
- completed our Topic 2 unit in math and took our second assessment
- began our Word Study unit!

Leading Lion: Amelia S.
Amelia was our class's first Leading Lion! We learned all about Amelia all week. We wrote nice notes to her, shared one of her favorite books, and she even brought treats for her classmates! We were lucky to have our first guest reader via Zoom, as well!

Jack was caught being a lion for sharing his artistic skills with his class!
Taylor was caught being a lion for always helping in the classroom!

Don't forget to vote for our pumpkin in the Storybook Pumpkins contest! The pumpkins are displayed in front of our school. For our pumpkin, we read "A Bad Case of the Stripes" and worked hard painting all the colors!
Bringing Hope Home 5k
We had so much fun participating in this fundraiser! Special thanks to the 3rd graders for putting this together and for cheering us on as we ran! Thanks to Mr. B for encouraging us to try our best! And thank you to our families for their donations! Our school has raised over $3,500!
Congrats to Sean: our First in Math winner this week!
Next Week...
- students will be able to wear their costumes to school on Friday
- costumes should be accompanied by a mask/ normal facial covering for the day
- no weapons or extravagant accessories, please
- treats will be provided by PAC!
