Dear parents,
Please check Power School on a regular basis to check grades.

7th Grade: This week, we will have our third book club meeting. We will also practice more with the homophones affect and effect and learn how to use semicolons to connect independent clauses. On Thursday, Seth, Jacob, Michael, and Anna will be representing the 7th grade in the school spelling bee.
8th Grade: On Monday, students will have a quiz over chapter 4 from The Outsiders. We will continue reading throughout the week. Expect an article of the week on Monday. On Thursday, Brayden, Cameron, Keira, and Madison will be representing the 8th grade in the school spelling bee.
SOCIAL STUDIES
6th Grade: We will be exploring how the physical conditions of a country affects its population characteristics. We will be looking in depth at China and why most of the people live where they live. I have posted the second set of population vocabulary words in Google classroom for them to practice this week. They will have a quiz on Friday.

MATH
6th Grade: Students took a test on Thursday over operations with decimals. Several did not finish so we will be finishing Monday. Our next module will be focusing on percents and ratios.
7th Grade: Students took a 2-step equation quiz on Thursday. We are learning the algebra behind solving equations that we can sometimes use mental math to solve. We will continue this week solving equations and also learning how these equations work in real life situations.
8th Grade: We began solving equations with variables on both sides of an equation. This week we will focus on applications of these equations that happen in real life. Expect a quiz this week.
SCIENCE
6th Grade: We have been learning about the steps of the scientific method and how to create an investigable question for their Science Fair projects. Most students have a good handle on this, but there are still a few who need to finish this as soon as possible so they can move on to doing background research.
7th Grade: We are busy working on our Science Fair projects. Please touch base with your student frequently to ask how they are doing. A background research plan handout was finished on Thursday. Some students still have that to complete. Also, Mrs. Vanderhart’s pre-calculus students will be coming in starting next week to present STEM lessons on Tuesdays. A great cross-collaborative activity!
8th Grade: Most students have their Science Fair project ideas and have identified their investigable question, however, there are still a few who have yet to turn in their Project Proposal form. This is due Monday. They should be working their background research on their topic this week.
SINCERELY,
