Back to School Night

Thursday, Sep. 6th, 6:30pm

Beckman High School

You are invited to attend Beckman High School’s Back-to-School Night, Thursday, September 6th, beginning at 6:30pm. Similar to last year, there will be no general welcoming assembly in the gym this year. All parents will report to their child’s FIRST PERIOD class which will start promptly at 6:30. After a brief introductory video, parents will move through their child’s schedule where teachers will present their classroom procedures, expectations, and performance standards. Questions about individual student progress should not be addressed at this time.

First Day of School Reminders

Please refer to Aeries BEFORE the first day of school and verify your classes and locations. Final class schedules will be posted on Saturday, August 11th and will be found under Student Info > Classes. Students will report to their first period classes at 7:45 am. Students with a zero period class will report to their zero period class at 6:45 am.

Any errors in the student's class listing should be taken to the counseling office at break, lunch or after school. Students will not be permitted to leave class to address scheduling errors.

Traffic on the first day of school is likely to be heavy. Please plan accordingly and walk, ride a bike, or carpool if at all possible.

Smile! High School is one of the most memorable times of students' lives. Remind them to enjoy it!

Welcome Our New Assistant Principal - Mr. Devang Brahmbhatt

Devang Brahmbhatt is joining Beckman High School as the new Assistant Principal. Devang Brahmbhatt comes to Beckman High School and Tustin Unified from the Kern High School District in Bakersfield. Devang has worked in education for 20 years. He started his career as a mathematics teacher, and has served in various other roles throughout his career. He has served as a guidance counselor, Dean of Students, Assistant Principal, and supervising administrator of instructional technology for his previous school district. He has a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics education from Northern Illinois University, and a Master’s degree in Education focusing on school counseling and pupil personnel services from California State University in Bakersfield. Devang is excited to be a Patriot, and is looking forward to working with students, staff, and parents of Beckman High School.

Four New Faces in the Math Department Highlight New Hires

This year, Beckman will welcome 8 new teachers to the teaching staff. No department will see more change than the math department who will welcome 4 new teachers into the fold. New math teachers Matt Bausman, Heather Kim, James Richardson, and Stephen Scott are excited to get started and have already begun acclimating themselves to our campus. The four teachers join Nathan Brogiere (English), Claudia Hardi (Science), Samantha Squieri (Art), and Claire Steinhaus (Science) as part of our new crop of teachers here at Beckman.

Last Day to Request a Class Change

District policy states that students wishing to make a course change have until the fourth Friday of the semester to request the change. This year, the last date to make such a request falls on September 7th. Keep in mind that changes can only be made if space permits. Also, we will not grant teacher change requests. Students wishing to request a change will need to complete an Add/Drop form found on the Beckman website and turn it into the counseling office.

Classroom Furniture Refresh

You may have seen a number of trucks on campus as you passed by school during your summer holiday. These trucks were delivering hundreds of new desks and chairs that allow for flexibility in the arrangement of the room. Desks that roll, twist, raise/lower were all part of the furniture refresh that students will see when they enter their classrooms on August 14th. These new desks will help facilitate collaborative conversations, class debates, and group work in a more efficient and comfortable manner.
