Meet the Teacher Night Agenda (8/29) (5:30-7:00)
Core teachers (ILA, Math, Soc. Studies, Science) will do three 20-minute presentations throughout the eventing at: 5:40-6:00, 6:10-6:30, and 6:40-7:00. The presentations are a repeat of information, and parents only need to attend one presentation for each grade level where they have a student.
- 6th grade core will present together in the gym.
- 7th grade core will present together in the cafe.
- 8th grade core will present together in the library.
All elective teachers will stay in their individual classrooms. Parents will be able to visit those classrooms on an individual basis (while not in a core presentation).
Advisory Time
- M-Th Advisory is focused on academic intervention. Students are assigned an Advisory teacher (it's at the bottom of their schedule) for this time. While they are in this teacher's classroom, they can work independently on various projects and/or homework. Students are also pulled into intervention groups based on academic need by their core teachers during this time. If they are pulled into intervention, they are notified by the core teacher and go to that teacher's classroom instead of their scheduled advisory teacher.
- Friday Advisory provides two opportunities for students: 1) Participation in FISD's Social/Emotional Lessons (Power to Choose), and 2) Participation in clubs. Participation in these two Advisory classes occurs on alternating Fridays. The students are assigned a Power to Choose advisory teacher during this time and will remain with that teacher on Power to Choose Lesson days for the entire year. The students will choose from a list of clubs the week of August 26. They will remain in their clubs through January and then choose a different club.
The students learn the schedule quickly and are reminded each day of which advisory they should attend.
Home Access Code (HAC) Distribution
HAC/Home Access Codes (and log in information to other district programs) will be sent to the primary student contact on either September 5th or 6th from Central Office via School Messenger for all campuses. Right now, parents are unable to log in, but will be able to get in after HAC codes have been distributed or you will receive calls that they cannot log in.

Block Schedule & Bell Schedule
Hunt is one of four schools implementing a modified block schedule this year. This schedule will allow teachers to have one day per week where students are in their class for an extended amount of time (88 minutes). The extended (block) days allow teachers to do longer and more in-depth learning activities with students that don't fit into a typical bell schedule day. Here is some key information related to the block schedule:
- Monday, Tuesday, & Friday are regular 8 period days.
- Wednesday & Thursday are block days. Students will only attend odd-hour classes on Wednesday and even-hour classes on Thursday.
**Block scheduling does cause some students to attend lunch with another grade level depending on the elective they are in. We understand this is not ideal, but we don't want students to give up their elective choice to facilitate a lunch change. Additionally, there is very limited space in classes for them to change into. We are only accepting schedule change requests for level changes (on-level to PreAP or the opposite).
