Indoor Masking
This began this week on March 14th.
Parent Volunteers on Campus- PLEASE READ
Teachers will be sending out a communication with the days and times parent volunteers are needed in their classroom, if any, for those of you who meet the requirements and are approved. Not all parents will be able to volunteer, even if eligible.
All parent volunteers are subject to screening by the principal.
COVID Screening and Testing at SME
Please STAY HOME if you have ANY symptoms.
Screening Questions Daily before coming to school
- Do I have a fever?
- Do I have a cough?
- Am I experiencing shortness of breath or difficulty breathing?
- Am I experiencing any other symptoms?
- Have I been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 10 days?
- In the last 10 days, have I been directed to quarantine, isolate or take a COVID-19 test?
How and Where PUSD Students and Employees Can Get Tested
PUSD offers COVID-19 PCR oral or nasal swab tests on campuses and at the District’s Primary Clinic, 8 a.m. - 3:30 pm. By appointment, please call (626) 396-3600, ext 88180
On PUSD campuses(SME) weekly testing, on Thursdays, is available for ALL students and staff.

We are holding at 86% of students registered.
STEPS to follow if you get a POSITIVE COVID test result
1. Immediately isolate from all others(family, school, sports, after-school enrichment and daycare)
2. Contact Mrs. Lewis/Ms. Rupp to notify POS results
3. Expect a phone call/contact from Health Department for specific information and quarantine next steps
4. Receive a short-term independent study agreement from SME
5. Complete assigned school work, if feeling well
6. Call and/or contact school/teacher if any questions
STEPS to follow if you are requesting and Independent Study(IS) Agreement
1. Send an email to your kid's teacher and Mrs. Lewis to request an IS agreement
2. Include which days you are agreeing to work remotely on the Canvas work posted by the teacher.
3. Include if you are choosing to do an IS or if you are needing to, due to an exposure or POSITIVE COVID-19 lab confirmed PCR test.

IMPORTANT TALENT SHOW INFO!
Thank you to all our talented SME kids for showing us your talent! It’s going to be a great show! We have two announcements today:
Parents, if your student came to one of the Show Us Your Act Days but you didn’t print, sign, and send both sides of the registration form, you MUST submit it this week. (Note that we are not seeing any more acts/ accepting new students at this time)
Please download the attached form, fill it out completely, and email it to talentshow@smepta.org. We are parent volunteers managing more than 60 amazing kids - please help us keep everyone safe and accounted for! The form is attached below.
Kiddos in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade who are interested in helping Mr. Cody behind the scenes with tech for the talent show:
Have your parents fill out the attached form by Monday, March 21 and email it to talentshow@smepta.org. We have a limited number of spots available, so once we have all the interest forms, we will conduct a lottery for who will participate.

SEED is recognizing National Developmental Disabilities Month! Check out the SEED resource guide to learn more about the fight for Disabilities Rights. SEED highlights Disability Rights leaders Judy Heumann and Haben Girma. Learn about Raymond Hu, a recognized artist with Down syndrome who fights for environmental rights through his paintings.
The SEED Spring Social at the park is coming! We need your help in planning and executing a fun event for families! Join us for our Spring Social Planning meeting Monday, March 28th!

SEED is promoting the African American Parent council Black History Living Museum! Grades 3-5 are invited to participate! This annual event is fun and educational for our kids! Selected students will be invited to share their presentation in the museum experience as the "live" exhibit and compete for prizes. FREE USC Mobile Dental Clinic
We are excited to announce that Young and Healthy is once again sponsoring the USC Mobile Dental Clinic for children ages 5-18. The Clinic is scheduled February 17-25, 2022 at Blair High School. Dental assessments and treatment will be provided at no cost to the parent/guardian.
