Newsletter Week 10 Term 2

Titahi Bay Intermediate School 5th July 2021

Principal's Korero

Well we are finally at the end of Term 2 with interesting weather patterns to make it a bit more challenging to keep warm. Now that we are back in Covid 19 Alert Level 1 we are getting ready to hold our Term 2 Trophy Night, this Wednesday starting at 6.00 p.m. As level 2 restrictions impacted our Matariki/Whānau Movie Night as well as our Open Night we are excited to be able to get back to some 'normality'. Thank you all for your support with this. Waka Ama will resume again this week as they were also affected with the change in Covid levels.

The two week break is only a few days away but learning never slows down or stops during the last week of the term. Teachers are busy engaging students in their end of term mastery tests and assessments. This week each class will be moving through our new student inquiry hook in the hall so that we can gather student voice with our new focus of 'How the World Works'. Students inquiry will be looking through the lens of 'Cause and Effect' so it will be exciting to see where students channel their learning.

Ensure that you have a great two week break with your whānau and we look forward to some rested young people, ready to engage and enjoy the final half of the school year.

Term 2 Trophy Night

Our end of term Trophy Night will be held on Wednesday 7th July starting at 6.00 p.m. in our school hall. If your child received a trophy last term, now is the time to dust it off and return it to the school office.

We also ask that any student who comes to Trophy Night needs to be in full school uniform whether they are performing or receiving an award or not. It is very important that students understand that our school expectations continue especially with reference to cell phones, chewing gum and behaviour. As we have a number of students who come to watch we would like these students to sit with their whānau as our staff are busy working with our performance groups.

Titahi Bay Intermediate Open Night - New Dates

If you know of any whānau who have a current Year 6 student then invite them to come along to our Titahi Bay Intermediate Open Night. This will now be held on Wednesday 11th August with doors opening at 5.30 p.m. and the official programme starting at 6.00 p.m. and ending at 7.00 p.m.

We will have a number of current students who will be part of our Open Night team and will be showing people around or performing on the night.

Our Open Mornings will be Thursday 12th August and Friday 13th August from 9.30 a.m. through to 11.30 a.m.

Ka Ora, Ka Ako - Health School Lunches

As we are coming to the middle of the year we continue to see a large amount of school lunches being thrown out. Ms Itamura will be sending out a small survey to see if you still want your child to receive the free lunches for the remainder of the year. We can then adjust our numbers and hopefully reduce the amount of waste.

If we do have left overs we will be place these on Facebook, so please come along to the trolley which will be located in the hall foyer and take them away with you. If possible, please return the empty plastic containers as they get collected daily and returned to be recycled. Thank you for your support with this.
