SLPHS Families
We are back in swing after the long weekend. As always, it is great to see students back and reengaging in learning. The end of the trimester is fast approaching, and I want to encourage all students to use Support and Extension Time (S.E.T.) on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings to access support they may need to end the trimester strong.
Here are a couple of other brief updates for families this week:
- Face masks strongly recommended preK-12: The revised Face Mask Decision-Making Guide is in effect across the district. Face masks are strongly recommended for preK-12. Masks will be required temporarily at the high school if 5 percent or more of students and staff are out with COVID-19 or COVID-like symptoms. See data updated weekly on the COVID-19 hub. Face masks continue to be required on buses following federal requirements.
- Panther Foundation Week of Giving: This is it! The Silent Auction features more than 300 packages and it officially opens shortly – at 6 p.m. tonight. You can also get involved by dining at local restaurants and by continuing to show your Panther Spirit – Thursday (blue out) and Friday (spirt wear). I hope to see some of you at the Panther Party on Saturday. Find everything you need to know at SpringLakeParkSchools.org/GiveBack. Thank you for support students!
I will close by recognizing that this week is also National Public Schools Week. I am proud to be a public school educator in a community that partners so closing with our schools. Thank you again for your ongoing collaboration. Together, we build bright futures.

Kindergarten priority placement - February 28
Families with children who will be going into kindergarten for the 2022-2023 school year are encouraged to enroll their child by Monday, February 28. This is the priority placement deadline that provides the best opportunity for your first choice in what school your child will attend.
Please visit the kindergarten webpage to enroll your child. You can also find additional information about kindergarten options at SLP, how to request an elementary school tour or how to contact our enrollment office with any questions.
Industry roundtable focuses on the future
Small and large business, non-profit, government and education leaders came together at Spring Lake Park High School last week to discuss the skills graduates need and how school and community can partner to build the future. More than two dozen leaders participated in the industry roundtable conversations, representing a variety of sectors – including retail, hospitality, health care, finance, manufacturing, construction, government and more. Participants provided insight on the skills and mindsets graduates need to succeed in the workforce. Read the full story here.
If you’re interested in becoming a partner by contributing to future opportunities surrounding this work, please contact Eric Van Brocklin, evanbr@district16.org, 763-600-5100.
