CLASS SCHEDULES
Students were given their class schedules one more time this Monday morning. Please do not worry if you somehow do not have a printed copy of your child’s schedule.
SCHOOL ARRIVAL
School arrival begins as early as 7:00 a.m. Our arrival process is pretty simple. We will be welcoming students every morning at the front of school. Please see the instructions below:
- Students will use the front entrance by the mustang statue / flag pole to enter the school building during morning arrival.
- Pre-K through 5th grade classes begin at 7:40 a.m. Middle and high school classes begin at 8:00 a.m. Elementary students should be at school no later than 7:35 a.m. and middle and high students should be at school no later than 7:55 am.
- Our faculty members will greet you and will help the children out of the car. All children will be taken to the cafeteria to wait for the beginning of first period. Some of our teachers will be supervising students in cafeteria till the classes begin.
- We will help any elementary student arriving after 7:30 a.m. to directly go to their classes.
- Pre-K through 1st grade parents will use the area next to playground for arrival. Our Pre-K through 1st grade teachers will provide you further guidance on this both during orientation and also through an e-mail. This drop off area will be closed right at 7:40am. For all other grades, please follow arrival instructions below.
- 2nd grade through high school families may drop of their children at the main school entrance as usual.
- Since we have limited parking, we would like to kindly request following from all families to ensure safety during arrival time:
- If you did not bring your school supply during orientation day, please do not bring during arrival time first week of school since it will mean that you will need to park your car during arrival time. You may bring them either during the day or at the end of day.
- Unless there is an emergency situation, please do not plan parking and bringing your child inside the school. Simply drive to school main door with your car as shown in the picture below and our staff will welcome your child and help each child to go to their classes.
- Please be reminded that the speed limit is 15 mph on campus. Please never go above 15 mph on campus.
Important Arrival Instructions
- Please ask your child to get ready for drop off before arriving drop off area. As soon as the car stops, students should quickly get out of the car. We sometimes notice that students playing games, eating breakfast, or just sitting in the car even after car stops. This creates delays during arrival time. It is important that students are ready for drop off and quickly come out of their car.
- Our teachers will open the doors for students in elementary. Middle and high students should quickly open their own car doors and come out.
- Please have your child at the right hand side of the card for quick drop off.
- Student backpacks should be kept inside the car to fasten the process. Opening the trunk to take bags cause delays with the arrival process. We kindly ask for your cooperation on this important matter.
- Parents should not come out of their car at all. Please let staff to help your children. As soon as we take your children, you should be ready in the driving seat to move on.
- Cell phone use is not permitted during arrival and dismissal time.
- The parking area next to gym is for staff parking only. Please do not park there to drop off your children. All parents should follow arrival procedures as it is announced.
Thank you for your cooperation on this important procedures to ensure the safety and happiness of all of us. If we all follow these instructions diligently, we should all have a much pleasant arrival process every morning.
Please be informed that parking in the circular area in front of the school is not allowed during the day. When you bring your child late or come to pick up your child early, please park in the designated parking areas only. The circular area in front of main door should always be kept empty during the day.
SCHOOL DISMISSAL (NEAR THE PLAYGROUND AREA)
We have a barcoded school dismissal system. Please ensure that you have your barcode card ready and available when you arrive to pick up your student. In order for dismissal to run quickly and smoothly, it is important you have your barcode card everyday. The barcoded system makes our dismissal process more efficient and safe for the students. Thank you for your help with this process. If you lose it, you can always get a copy from front office.
Please read following instructions carefully:
- Please note the difference in the traffic flow between drop off and pick up. There will be staff members available to guide you during the process.
- Since there are no clubs this week. We will have two dismissal hours this week:
- First dismissal(Only for Pre-K through 5th Grade) is at 2:37 p.m.
- Second dismissal (For all students) is at 3:16 p.m.
- It is very important that middle school families do not arrive to school before 3:00pm. If they arrive early, there is a big chance that they will delay the carpool for elementary grades leaving with 1st dismissal.
- Pre-K and Kindergarten teachers will inform parents about dismissal because their dismissal procedures are different.
- High school families do not have to use dismissal lanes. When high school parents arrive to school, they can park to a parking place and text their students for pick up. High school students will be allowed to walk to their cars.
- The second dismissal will continue till 3:45pm. After that time, students will be taken to cafeteria for after school care.
- If you come to school after 3:45pm, please park your car and go to cafeteria using main door to pick up your child. Probably the easiest way for dismissal will be coming after 3:45pm since you will not need to wait to pick up your child.
AFTER SCHOOL CARE
After School Care is available every weekday till 6:00pm for $15 per day or $200 per month for those who register for the monthly plan. The after school care charge begins after 4:30pm.

The Borgen Project; A community fundraising program to raise awareness and donations for global poverty reduction advocacy measures
Venue:
Alpharetta Public Library Auditorium
10 Park Plaza, Alpharetta, GA 30009
Date:
September 15th, 2019, 3-5 pm
The Borgen Project is an innovative national advocacy campaign that aims to bring global poverty reduction to the forefront of U.S. foreign policy. The organization operates through mobilization and congressional outreach; as interns, we work at the grassroots and legislative levels to foster constituent engagement and urge congresspeople to support or cosponsor key poverty-minimizing legislation.
For one of my projects, I have to implement a fundraising campaign with a goal of raising $500. For this campaign, I’m organizing a community fundraiser by incorporating performances by music schools and dance academies to encourage participation.
The program will be split into two halves, each spanning a duration of 45 minutes. The first half will constitute classical performances (primarily instrumental thus far) and the second half, semi-classical, Bollywood, etc. I am actively looking for more performers for both halves, one group for the second half, and two groups for the first half. Time slots are flexible and can be adjusted according to the structure of all of the performances. I would appreciate any help with participation in performances and volunteering and will provide acknowledgment and service hours for any academic requirements as well.

IMMUNIZATIONS REQUIREMENTS & IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM NURSE AMY
A Message From Nurse Amy
This is to remind you of the importance of getting your son or daughter vaccinated before they go back to school this fall. Vaccines are the best way you can protect your child from a number of serious diseases, including meningococcal disease, and cancers caused by HPV, and whooping cough.
As you are making your back-to-school checklist for your preteen, I encourage you to make sure your sons and daughters get all the vaccines that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends for them at ages 11 and 12.
The State of Georgia requires the Meningococcal (MCV4), and a Tdap (booster) vaccines be done for school entry; to learn more about state immunization requirements, go to: www.immunize.org/laws.
Schedule an appointment today for your child to receive all of the vaccines they need for the best protection. CDC, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), and the National Association for School Nurses all agree that your preteen needs the following vaccines:
Meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MenACWY) protects against some of the bacteria that cause meningococcal disease and meningitis. While not very common, these are very serious illnesses and death can occur in as little as 48 hours. Your child will need a booster shot at age 16 to continue providing protection into the late teens/early 20’s.
HPV vaccine protects against the infections that can cause HPV cancer. HPV infection is very common and causes more than 31,000 cases of cancer each year in the Unites States; that’s one case of cancer diagnosed every 17 minutes. Both boys and girls should complete the HPV vaccine series before age 13. Preteens need two doses of HPV vaccine, given six to twelve months apart. If you wait, your child may need three doses over six months.
One dose of Tdap vaccine as a booster is for continued protection against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough). This vaccine keeps preteens healthy and prevents spread of pertussis to babies who are too young to be protected by vaccination.
Preteens and teens should also get the flu vaccine every year, ideally by the end of October if possible.
The State of Georgia requires the Meningococcal (MCV4), and a Tdap (booster) vaccines be done for school entry; to learn more about state immunization requirements, go to: www.immunize.org/laws.
To learn more about adolescent vaccines, please visit CDC’s website for parents about vaccines for children at www.cdc.gov/vaccines/parents, or you can visit www.middleschoolhealth.org for the Middle School Health Starts Here website.
Medical Care Plan Forms, and Medication Forms, (asthma, food and insect allergies, diabetes, seizures, other health conditions), are available on the Nurse page, of the Student Life drop-down, located on the school website.
http://fultonscienceacademy.org/clinic-forms/
Parents and guardians are encouraged to get this done over the summer. Medical care plans will need a doctor signature as well as prescription medications. Always consult with your physician with questions concerns, and to inquire about side effects.
Open House: Parents and guardians are encouraged to bring Over-the-counter medication, as well as emergency medication and prescription medication, with the medical care plan, and /or Administration of Medication Form, to Open House.

Home Visits; A Great Activity for Your Student, No Matter Their Grade Level!
Here is some feedback from our parents:
- “Early in the school year, a group of teachers took the time to come to our home to meet us and discuss the school program with us. That event brought us back to the time in which schooling was a true partnership between parent and teacher and reaffirmed in our minds that FSA truly cares about the development of our children”
- “We even had two teachers visit us at our home. They were a pleasure to meet and we could clearly see how much they enjoy teaching students.”
- “Thank you very much for your visit and the chocolates yesterday. We enjoyed having you over very much. I also want to thank you for turning math from the most complicated and somewhat scary subject into one of our most favorites.”
- “We all enjoyed your visit last night to our home. It was such a pleasure to informally get to know both of you. My son thought it was really cool that two teachers came to his house. He talked about it the whole way to school this morning in carpool. Personally, I admire the dedication you both have for your jobs. It makes a big difference in a student’s attitude toward school. Your visit left no doubt in my mind that FSA was the right decision for my son.”
- “I just wanted to write on behalf of my husband and I and thank you for visiting our child. He loved having you both come and visit. We appreciate the level of caring and attention that you have consistently shown our family. It is rare to see such a dedication from teachers for their jobs. We can tell that you love teaching and you care for our children. Thank you for visiting our child when he was not feeling well.”
How can I schedule a home visit?
Very simple.
To schedule an elementary school home visit: Simply email junal@fultonscienceacademy.org with some suggested dates/times, as well as your students' name(s) and homeroom assignments. Ms. Unal will be in touch to confirm final details.
To schedule a middle or high school school home visit: Simply email sduman@fultonscienceacademy.org with some suggested dates/times, as well as your students' name(s) and homeroom assignments. Mr. Duman will be in touch to confirm final details.
Depending on our teacher’s availability, at least two teachers will be together to visit our students and parents at their homes. The best times to schedule a home visit are weekdays after 5:00 pm, and anytime during the weekends, except Sunday mornings. For any questions you have about this program, send an e-mail to homevisit@fultonscienceacademy.org
