My Antonia

How I connected to this book
When our class went out into the prairie, I just felt like I was one of the immigrants who came to Nebraska in the 1800's. I looked around, saw the tall grasses flowing in the wind, the rough ground that the horses pulling the wagons would've walked on, and it took me back in time.
On our trip, I saw a lot of grass that looked like this, long and tall, dancing in the light breeze. It was really peaceful being out there.
How prairie is important
The prairie is an iconic symbol to Nebraska, one of the very few that we have. If we don't make an effort to conserve it and protect it, we will lose what truly made this state and region great and the main reason why people like Antonia and Jim were able to settle here.
