If you have trouble accessing the folder, please contact the school office.
Structured Brain Breaks
Research has shown that incremental breaks during a student's school day increases retention as well as academic achievement. Throughout the school year, data will be collected by the five schools involved in the pilot program and analyzed by the FISD Student Health Advisory Council to determine effectiveness as well as district-wide implementation.
During structured brain breaks at Pink, students have the opportunity to:
- Engage in unstructured play--meaning kids aren't being told exactly what to do and how to do it. They have freedom to decide how to play and move around, but are given options of ideas or resources.
- Be physically active--all kids have the option to run around or do other physically active forms of play that elevate heart rate. They may choose to sit and read, play games and/or do arts and crafts, but the option for physically active play is available to all students.
- Be outdoors whenever possible as the weather permits.

Frisco ISD Anonymous Reporting Tool: STOPit
We are excited to inform you that our school has enrolled with STOPit!
STOPit is an online ANONYMOUS reporting tool designed to deter and mitigate bullying, cyber abuse, and other inappropriate behaviors, consisting of an app and a back-end incident management system for school administrators.
Elementary parents can REPORT incidents to school contacts anonymously.
Messenger can be used to engage in anonymous two-way communication with school contacts.
Both Report and Messenger empower parents to stand up for their children. Elementary parents have the power to help put an end to harmful and inappropriate behavior they see online through social media and other means. They can use STOPit to reach out for help if their child is facing a personal crisis or experiencing bullying, abuse, or are otherwise in need of assistance. Our goal with STOPit is to create safer, kinder, school communities both online and off.
No student information is needed to use STOPit. The only way personally identifiable information will be accessible through STOPit is if a student voluntarily includes it within the content of a report or message.
Both our school and STOPit are committed to protecting the privacy of student data. STOPit is a signatory to the Student Privacy Pledge, spearheaded by the Future of Privacy Forum and the Software & Information Industry Association. You may review STOPit’s Privacy Policy for details, including more information on how anonymous reporting works.
The STOPit link can be found on our campus website.
More information and resources can be found online at stopitsolutions.com.
Social/Emotional Learning at Pink
Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
At Pink, we are committed to teaching our students skills and strategies to assist them in effective self-management, self-awareness, social awareness, responsible decision-making and relationship skills. These skills are critical to students success and proven to enhance the learning environment in school. Below are the ways in which we embed social/emotional learning into the daily schedule at Pink.
- · Daily Morning Meetings: Every morning for 15 minutes, teachers lead students in a classroom community meeting focused on character traits, emotional regulation strategies, topics of interest to the students and/or concerns of the classroom with regard to behavior.
- School Morning Meetings: Every 1st-3rd Friday, students will be led in a morning meeting by Ms. Dawkins (K-2) and Mrs. Dragoslavic (3-5) from 8:00-8:30 a.m. The focus for these school-wide grade level specific meetings will be character development, anti-bullying, community building, school expectations and more.
- · Make Your Move Character Check-In: Students will have an opportunity to check in each morning with the teacher and share the character strength he or she plans to focus on for the day. Students are being introduced to all of the 8 character strengths that they will be learning more about each month. This strategy allows students to generalize the character strength that they select each day, to set goals for themselves with regard to social/emotional learning and to receive feedback from their teacher regarding their selected character strength.
- · Mindfulness Breathing: Mindful Breathing is a technique used to calm and focus the brain. Teachers incorporate time for students to cool down at their discretion. This is typically most effective after recess to focus students on learning. Go-Noodle is the most common resource used for mindfulness breathing as well as classical music.
- · "The Chill Spot": Each classroom has a designated area that is called The Chill Spot. This is an area in the classroom that students can retreat to if they need a few minutes to re-focus, think or calm their brain. Thanks to PTA, all classrooms have a Chill Box at this location with several tools used to settle nerves, get fidgets out and re-focus students on learning. The Chill Spot is not used for punitive purposes. It is a proactive strategy rather than a reactive strategy.
- Morning Greetings: Each teacher is expected to stand at the door to the classroom each morning to greet each student as they enter. This is a great time for connection and also a time for the teacher to quickly check-in with students to ensure that they have the best day possible.
For information regarding SEL, please view the video below or visit Mrs. Dragoslavic's School Counselor Website.
