Welcome to the Prairie Point Panther Press!
Off the Shelves - News from the LRC
I'm planning another used book sale, so if you have books at home that you'd like to get rid of (preschool through 5th grade only), please add them to the donation boxes in the school lobby and outside of the LRC. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.
Thank you to Ryan Wilson for making a donation for a birthday book in his honor. He will choose a book from my latest order of library-bound books.
On Friday, February 23rd, our first and second grade students were treated to a presentation by author Linda Ragsdale, who talked to students about her books, her travels, and her Peace Dragon program to promote world peace. Our thanks to Anderson's Bookshop in Naperville for this opportunity. I still have some signed copies of her books, which will be available for purchase through next Tuesday. Contact me if interested (cpatterson@sd308.org or 630.636.3603)
On Friday, March 9th, local author John Madormo will visit Prairie Point and will introduce his “Charlie Collier” series to our 4th and 5th graders. All students are welcome to purchase his books.

Home & School President's Letter
Happy March!! Ah, Mother Nature seems to be keeping us on our toes! Let’s hope for spring-like weather sooner than later!
This is an exciting time of the year for Home and School. We are holding two big family events this month. Fun Fair is today and we hope to see all of you at the school enjoying fun and food. In two weeks, on March 16th, we will hold our annual Variety Show. Come and watch our students perform.
The Board is also finalizing approvals for Teacher and Staff Grants. Giving grants is one of the most rewarding parts of being on the board. And speaking of the board, we are excited to announce our 2018/2019 Home & School Board nominees:
Beth Kremer – President
Angela McCumber – Vice President
Katie Lund – Treasurer
Katie Brom – Recording Secretary
Elizabeth Cooper-Schmidt – Correspondence Secretary
Please come to our next meeting, April 5th, to meet the candidates and vote them into office.
The school year will be up before we know it, and we will be saying good-bye and good luck to our 5th graders, as well as those families who will no longer have students at Prairie Point. We will have some open committee positions and would love to welcome new volunteers! Please look for more information regarding those roles.
Lastly, I’d like to end with a big thank you to all who volunteered in February:
Health & Wellness committee – thank you for a great open gym night for 4th & 5th graders.
Tuesday Night Dinner coordinator – thank you for giving us a reason to order Lou Malnati’s!
Appreciation – thank you for organizing an incredible spread for the staff on Valentine’s Day. The s’mores bar was a hit!
Class Parties - thank you to all parents who volunteered for the Valentine’s Day parties. The students had a great time.
Father’s Forum – thank you for treating all moms to a great morning of donuts, fruit and coffee with our kiddos.
And thank you to our Thursday folder stuffers, our Marquee Master, Rewards and all parents who volunteered for Great Art.
As I typed all of the thank yous, I realize just how lucky we are as a community to offer so much support to Prairie Point. We are even more lucky to have such a great school for our children to attend! Have a wonderful month!
