Keeping Up with Kipling
I hope you all had a wonderful week.
The Art Show on Thursday was amazing. Ms. Foran did an amazing job of decorating the school and make it look Art Show ready, but in the end, our talented Kipling School artists are the real show stealers! We have such talent here at Kipling - not just with their artistic abilities! Thank you Ms. Foran for putting these great showcases together!
Please have a wonderful weekend!
Here are some important dates:

MAP Scores and Math Placement Information
Today, we mailed out math placement letters and MAP reports to our 4th and 5th-grade students. For families who are unfamiliar with our math placement process, we recommend that you revisit the communication sent in late April to understand how placement decisions are made.
The testing window for our kindergarten through 3rd-grade students was extended until next week. Therefore, MAP reports for our K-3rd grade students will be mailed out next Friday.

Camp Duncan - Back on in '22-'23!
In past years, students have gone to the YMCA Camp Duncan in the fall of their 5th-grade year. The pandemic made the experience unavailable to our current 6th graders and resulted in a delay for our current 5th graders. The middle schools will begin sponsoring the Camp Duncan trip beginning with the 2022-2023 school year!
6th grade is a big time of transition for students. Not only do two elementary schools merge, but the schedule and school day also look different. The team-building activities offered at Camp Duncan will serve as a great kickoff to middle school as students and staff get to know one another! In 2022-2023, both the 6th and 7th-grade classes at Shepard and Caruso will go to Camp Duncan so all students will have had the opportunity. In future years (2023 and beyond), the 6th-grade class will continue this 109 tradition. More information will be shared by the middle school principals at the beginning of the school year.

PTO School's Out for Summer Event
What to do if your child is not returning to Kipling next year?
If you have a current K-4th grade student who is not returning to Kipling next year, please complete this form as soon as possible. This information not only supports us with making class placements but knowing your child is moving allows us to prepare for your child's transition. Prior to your child's last day at Kipling, we will prepare all records for transfer. As a reminder, our school office will not be open during the summer months. Please complete this form even if your child is transferring to another DPS109 school.
Shield Testing Opt Out
If you would like to opt your child out of a week of Shield Testing, please remember to fill out this form by 8:00 AM on Monday morning. Please keep in mind that this opt out form erases each week. If you would like to opt out the following week, you will have to fill out the form again.
To clarify this post, if you opted out permanently, this does not apply to you. This is only for families who have opted to allow their children to be Shield tested but would like to opt out for one week only. Permanent opt outs will not be tested unless given permission by their families.
