Mrs. Gorman's Weekly News
Week of February 26, 2018
Math
This week, we are continuing Module 5, which is focusing on fractions. We've been learning about unit fractions, and how tape diagrams and area models can be decomposed to create equivalent fractions.
For the time being, we are putting Rocket Math to the side. We will replace our fluency with practice of multi-digit multiplication and division. In multiplication, we are working with 4-digit by 1-digit, or 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication. In division, we are working with up to 4-digits divided by 1-digit. Please continue to have your scholar practice this at home, as well as basic multiplication facts.
Science
In science, we are studying motion. Students will learn about motion and identify it in real world scenarios.
Science Fair projects turned out great! Over the next few weeks, scholars will present their projects to the class. They will be able to bring them home after they present their project.
Homework
Remember that homework will not be assigned for the time being. We will complete and go over the homework in class throughout the week. If you would like your scholar to do extra practice at home, they can do Mathletics, I-Ready, or Zearn. Please let me know if you would like their login information for any of these websites.
