6th Grade Information
- We are experiencing a very high demand for pencils at this time. Many students are coming to class without a pencil and our supply is nearly depleted. Some cool holiday pencils would make a great stocking stuffer.
- Speaking of stocking stuffers, this might be a great time to think about camp supplies as a Christmas gift. Ideas: water bottle, sleeping bag, fleece type hoodie, rain gear, mud boots, duffle bag, disposable camera, and a flashlight.
- Central Montcalm Middle School is going to reward students with multiple activities on December 14, 2018 providing they are passing ALL classes at 60%. Work time will be provided to those who do not meet this requirement.
- Another reward activity centers around student behavior. We are working with the students to reduce discipline referrals related to disrespect and defiance. We are discussing respect in our seminar periods and encouraging positive behavior. This will take place December 21, 2018.
- Slime should not be in our classrooms as it has triggered allergic reactions. Failure to follow this expectation could lead to disciplinary action. Each sixth grader has or will receive a stress ball from Montcalm Community College so slime will not be necessary as a stress reliever.
- As a gift to your student for participating in the Montcalm Community College visit and classroom lessons, your child can use their MCC ID for one visit to the Pool and Activity Center. If they cannot locate their ID, MCC does have their name on file. The pool will be open the week of January 2, 2019.
- 6th grade camp is May 1-3, 2019. The second payment of $25 is due January 31, 2019.
School Wide Goals
- School wide, we are working to reduce the number of behavior referrals for defiance by 50%. If we meet the goal, there will be a root beer float celebration on Dec. 21st.
- Staff is also organizing "Mission Possible" activities. Any student that has a passing grade in all classes by the end of the school day on Dec. 13, will be eligible for participation in activities on the afternoon of Dec. 14.
