We Need Your Help!

Parents, please help us improve our school by taking a few minutes to complete two very important surveys: one for GCPS and one for the State of Georgia. Each year GCPS conducts a Parent Perception Survey which is available on the Parent Portal. Once you log-in to your account, the survey should automatically pop up on your screen (make sure your pop-up blocker is turned off if you don't see it). Click here to log-in to your account. If you haven't yet set up a Parent Portal account, please visit our main office at Dyer to complete the brief form and show your valid ID. We also have computers available in the Media Center for you to use to complete the GCPS survey.

The other survey is from the State of Georgia and assists with our College and Career Readiness Climate Star Rating. You may complete the State survey on your computer, smartphone, or tablet or again, at the Dyer Media Center. We would like ALL parents to complete this State survey, and all responses are anonymously submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis. Please click here to access the State survey.

We hope you will take a few minutes to complete these two surveys to help us improve Dyer Elementary. Thanks for your support!

Dyer Celebrates School Counselor's Week

Next week Dyer will celebrate School Counselors Week. Our school counselor, Mrs. Dawn Garner, is always willing to go above and beyond to support our students, families and staff. While Mrs. Garner does an excellent job helping students deal with friendship and families situations, this is just a small part of her daily responsibilities. Mrs. Garner is always full of energy and willing to drop everything to ensure that our students are given the tools to reach their highest level of achievement. In addition to dealing with the urgent needs of our Bears and their families, she also meets daily with small groups to work on social, organizational, and study skills. She works tirelessly with our Peer Leaders and Patrols to help develop leadership among our students. She continues to develop and implement programs to improve attendance, good decision making, and safety. The list truly goes on, and on! We are very fortunate to have Mrs. Garner here at Dyer, and we appreciate all she does for our students, staff and community! If you feel the same, we encourage you to reach out to her next week and let her know!

Early Release & Conferences

Dear Parents,

Early Release conferences are fast approaching. Dyer students will be dismissed at 12:15 pm on Wednesday, February 22nd and Thursday, February 23rd. Please be sure to note these important schedule changes.

The purpose of a parent-teacher conference is to discuss student achievement and progress. Each parent-teacher conference will last for a period of twenty minutes, and both parents are urged to attend. Please be prompt as these conferences are scheduled consecutively. If a situation arises and you are unable to attend your scheduled conference, please notify the teacher so the conference can be rescheduled.

To schedule your conferences this year, simply follow this link. There you will be able to see all teachers’ schedules and sign up for a time that best suits your schedule.

Computers will be available at Dyer for you to sign-up there as well. The ability to sign up for a conference online will close on Friday, February 17th at 3:00pm. Please contact your child’s teacher directly to sign up after the close of online scheduling.

We look forward to seeing you during conference week.
