What happened at school this week?

Want to get your kiddo talking about what they are doing here at school? Here are a couple questions/subjects to help guide the discussion:

* What is a noun, can you give me an example of one?

* Tell me about the changes in your classroom.

* Talk to be about the coins in my purse/wallet.

This week:

This week in Language Arts we learned what a noun is. We worked to identify nouns in both our reading and our writing. We will continue to investigate nouns next week and begin to look at verbs.

The sight words for next week are: six, seven, eight

Sound Cabinet: B

In math we continued to explore coins by playing a greater than less than game with them, identifying coins in a piggy bank game and played coin bingo. Students also continue to work on their fact fluency with addition and subtraction to the number 10.

We have spent time practicing for our President's Day Program. We are looking forward to having you join us next Friday, at 9:45 to see what we have been working on. Our class will be wearing red shirts for the program.

It has been a great week, thank you for sharing your children with me!

Discovery News

Hello wonderful parents! This is Mrs. Foust with our news from Discovery. This week we continued our new unit on Presidents. The students are beginning to learn songs for our upcoming Presidents’ Day program. For our movement day, students met Popcorn the Dolphin while doing yoga. They seemed to really enjoy the yoga poses! For an upcoming activity, I am asking that students please bring in a penny. If your child would like to bring in a few extra, that would be great!
