PARCC Scores
Overall, BMS students had some of the top scores in the county, but more importantly, the increase in achievement over the last three years shows that our students are becoming stronger readers, writers, and problem-solvers.
It's important to review these scores with your students so they are aware of their strengths and weaknesses according to this assessment. Remember, a score of 4 means a student has met grade level standards. Students wanting to enroll in merit level courses for next year should aim to exceed grade level standards on the PARCC assessment.
But wait, I heard Maryland is replacing PARCC?! According to a September 11th news release, yes, Maryland will be looking for a different test to assess our students. We will still be using PARCC for the 2018-2019 school year and the scores will still count. At Boonsboro Middle School, we teach skills and standards, so whatever test is selected, our students will be prepared for success.

PTO Update
Warrior Walk (October 26th) donation envelopes were distributed to students this week. Please help your child secure donations and return envelopes by October 5th. There are 755 students currently enrolled at Boonsboro Middle, so if each child raises at least $25, we will exceed our goal of $15,000!
PTO Membership forms will also be distributed. The 1st period class in each grade with the highest membership will receive an additional $50 for classroom materials.
Collect those Box Tops! Please send in Box Tops with your child to turn into his/her 1st period teacher.
