Get them talking with-
Want to get your kiddo talking about what they are doing here at school? Here are a couple questions/subjects to help guide the discussion:
* Talk to me about number sentences, can you show me one?
* Did you read about any good characters in your class who were they?
* What American symbols did you learn about this week?
Celebrating our Success
Each month students are recognized for showing high five behaviors. Congratulations to these kindergarten friends.

This week:
Our language arts focus this week was identifying the characters in stories. We talked about how characters could be people or animals. There are also main characters and sub characters. Kiddos had fun picking out the characters in the books they were reading independently as well.
The sight words for next week are: yellow, green & blue
Math was lots of fun this week. We practiced adding groups with our friends, in a tens frame and with bingo dabbers. We also learned the 5=2+3 is true just like 2+3=5 is true. Next week we will be working with number bonds.
Sound Cabinet: G (both the hard, like gate and soft sound like, giraffe) - students may bring in a small item from home to share that starts with this letter.
In writing students got to choose and share their favorite piece of writing with several friends and we put their work on display in the classroom, we called this our publishing party. This week we also began work on their very first books. They were so excited to begin. I heard from one little kiddo, "we are finally authors" . That made my heart happy!
Veterans was our focus in social studies. We learned about the branches of the military and that Veterans are men and women that have worked very hard to serve and protect our country. Additionally, we learned about the symbols that represent our country. They wondered why the flag has so many stars, so we talked about that too.
It has been a great week, thank you for sharing your children with me!
