When the Earth Men came to Mars, they struggled due to little air to breathe. Several men fainted, and some were even sent back home to Earth.

When the settlers went to America, they acquired many diseases from the new environment.

When the second expedition landed, the native Martians mistook the crew as insane Martian that created hallucinations of rockets of crew members.

At first, the settlers got along well with the Natives. However, they later tried to kill the tribe leader and broke there relation which eventually led to war.
