Letter From the Principal
Parents,
As we approach the holiday season, it is a good time to think about all of the things for which we are grateful. I must tell you that I am most thankful for the opportunity to work with you and your children. This is an amazing community, and our students and staff are exceptional.
It is hard to believe that half of our school year is almost gone, and what a busy first half it has been! We have celebrated our seventh year opening, revered our grandparents, honored our veterans, shared Thanksgiving lunches with all of our families, recognized our fourth and fifth grade honor and merit roll students and our perfect attendance students, and featured our kindergarten students in a PTA performance. We have had a very successful fund-raiser as well as participated in a Family Reading/STEM night celebration. WOW!
I hope that each of us can take the time to sit with our families over the next several weeks and share our memories of our first few months. Take time to rest and catch your breath because the second half of our year is just as packed and fun-filled as the first half was.
Happy Holidays!

COUNSELORS' CORNER
Dear Parents,
We are proud to announce our annual holiday program; “IKES Believes…in Helping Others” will take place on December 21st. This will be a very special community outreach project that will allow our children and parents to help those that are less fortunate in our community. By reaching out to others, our students will learn important character traits such as kindness, generosity, compassion, and service by participating in this “real-life” event.
Here is how you can help. Please send in a new unwrapped age appropriate gift for either a boy or girl by December 15th. All of the gifts that are collected will be presented to MUST Ministries on December 21st during our holiday program that will take place at 8:15 in the gym. This will be a great opportunity for our students to see how they can directly help others in need.
As always we thank you for your continuous support to our school and our community.
Happy Holidays!
Colleen DeLosh & Lori Waycaster
Lunchroom News
During the month of December, the School Nutrition Staff will be making the 3 weeks before the Holiday Break FUN for the students! We will be playing a game with “Elf on the Shelf”, back by popular demand. The students have been asking us since before Thanksgiving when we were going to have the “Elf” start appearing. Each day the Elf will change locations and the students and staff can find her each day. The Elf was named “Cinnamon” last year in a contest we held to name the Elf. This year we will have a contest to give Cinnamon a middle name. So, help your student(s) think of a good middle name to go with Cinnamon.
We have the serving line decorated for the holidays, which the students love. We have a white tree with an apron, cooking utensils and a hat, all in red and white. There is a fireplace on the wall with stockings hung with care. The staff will be in festive gear with bells on.
From our staff to your family, we wish you a very Merry Holiday time and a Happy New Year! We look forward to serving our students delicious, nutritious meals in the new year of 2018!
