BHS Tiger News
Week of April 10, 2022 - Testing Week!
Belleville High School
Greetings, BHS Families, this is Week #11 of Semester 2, and this week begins Spring State Testing! This is our students’ opportunity to determine where they stand with respect to educational grade-level content.
Parents/Guardians, please make sure that students are:
ON TIME - this is a standardized test environment. Once roll call has been taken, students may no longer enter the testing area.
RESTED AND PREPARED (with Breakfast, at least one #2 pencil and their own calculator if they have one)..
For more detailed information for each testing day, please see the Counseling Corner Section below.
TEEN DRIVERS
As the weather gets warmer, we always tend to witness "interesting" driving around the school. Parents and Guardians, remember that we are our teen drivers' first example of safe driving and acceptable driving practices. Also, we are reminding students that driving is a PRIVILEGE and never a "right". Driving that is deemed dangerous will not be tolerated, and violators will lose privileges immediately.
Eyes on the Road. Hands on the Wheel. Mind on the Drive. All the time.
Teens can be the best messengers with their peers, so we encourage them to speak up when they see a friend driving while distracted. Parents need to lead by example—by never driving distracted. Researchers found that parents who more frequently engage in distracted driving behaviors have teens who engage in distracting behaviors more frequently than other young drivers.
The Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning (OHSP) has shared these resources to help us drive the message home (pun intended!) that distracted driving is not only dangerous, but could be deadly.

Wellness Corner: It’s 4th Quarter…Let’s Finish Strong!
The end of the school year is quickly approaching. If you are into sports, you would call this the fourth quarter. Some of us checked the boxes, met our goals and have planned new ones. Others have paused in order to reset. Wherever you are in the game, down, tied, or up…it is time to finish strong. To finish strong it's important to keep a few things in mind:
FIRST, identify what you need to stop doing. Which actions have prevented you from reaching your goals? Are you spending too much time on social media or binge watching television? Are you going to bed too late? Are you eating too much fast food? Be specific as you limit a behavior that is delaying your progress. For example, instead of saying, “I am going to stop watching TV,” set a goal to stop watching TV between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM. For many people, it is easier to achieve their goals by making small, deliberate steps towards success.
NEXT, identify what you need to continue doing. Many times, we focus on what we have not done. We did not study, we did not lose weight, and we did not stop ____ (fill in the blank). Is there something that you have been doing that you can continue? Despite the ups and downs, most students have continued to go to school (virtual or in-person). Parents have continued to work or seek employment. Counselors and teachers have continued to provide students with supportive services. If something has been working for you then keep doing those things. Celebrate your wins!
FINALLY, identify what you need to start doing in order to obtain your goals. Some of you may be reluctant to start anything new. To avoid feelings of anxiety, start slow and focus on consistency over quantity. A student may set a goal to pass a class. In order to meet that goal, more study time is needed. Start doing something new. Set an alarm as a reminder to read, review notes or watch tutorial videos. Start off with just 5-10 minutes a day. Starting slow and remaining consistent will get you one step closer to your goal.
