Dear Spicewood Elementary Parents & Community Members,
I hope you are enjoying your long weekend and look forward to welcoming students back on Wednesday, February 19th.
I would like to give huge thanks to the PTA and team of parents who planned our second annual Morning with Moms! We appreciate you!
Have a wonderful week!

Celebrations
Fourth Grade Students Take Action: This past October, a group of five enthusiastic 4th graders, Nishka G, Maya R, Gauri T, Murtaza S, & Jay S, met with me to share their desire to design a playground for children with all abilities.
We were able to visit the Wonderland, which is an all abilities playground at Deepwood Elementary, and meet with their principal.
Nishka, Maya, Gauri, Murtaza and Jay also presented their proposal to Spicewood Elementary teachers during a faculty meeting, and met with first grade students to encourage them to take action! To increase awareness on campus, they shared the same presentation on the morning broadcast! As a result, they were able to collect over 100 letters, which were written to our Superintendent, asking for changes to be made to our playground. This past Friday, they shared with me a design for a sensory sandbox that could be used during recess and gifted it to a classroom to try out.
I am so proud of these students and had to share their journey. This is one example of the impact our students make and evidence that Spicewood truly aspires to be a caring community and take action!
