100 Women of Sunnyvale
Hundreds of Women. Unlimited Possibilities.
To our FABULOUS 100 Women of Sunnyvale,
We know everyone has been busy during this "shelter in place" period. We give a special shout out to our members on the front lines working for and operating essential businesses and those in the healthcare field - THANK YOU! We have decided to cancel our May 100 Women of Sunnyvale meeting due to uncertainty of when shelter-in-place requirements will be lifted and also the financial uncertainty for so many during this time. We will not reschedule this meeting, but we hope to come together again in September.
Each of you has given to our community and your neighbors during this quarantine time in amazing ways. We want to provide another opportunity for you to continue to help where the need is great. Please watch the video message below from 100 Women of Sunnyvale member Alison Reese. Among her many leadership titles, Alison is the CEO of Souper Bowl of Caring and has direct knowledge of the increasing need for donations to the food supply at Sharing Life Community Outreach, our largest and closest community food pantry. Please take a listen and then continue reading.
Souper Bowl of Caring has set up a safe, virtual "no touch" food drive as part of their "Bigger Than the Bowl" campaign to tackle hunger during this extraordinary time of need. Through the link below, you can purchase food that will be shipped directly to Sharing Life, our local food pantry, within about a week. The purchase of 1 box will provide over 7 meals to a family in need.
We are excited about the opportunity to partner with Alison and Souper Bowl of Caring to significantly help them meet their goal of providing 5,000 meals. We hope you will consider directing your $100 donation to this cause or just give what you can. Many people are out of work right now, and many more are feeling financial strains and uncertainty. This an optional opportunity if you are able to give right now.
We are thinking about and praying for you all - our wonderful members, our civic and political leaders, and our community at large. This is a crazy time, and we are so grateful for the women in our community who continually step up and give so much as neighbors, in prayers and friendships, and for all the ways you find to help each other. Please continue doing this, and we can't wait to see you all in person soon - and at our meeting in September.
With Deep Gratitude,
The 100 Women of Sunnyvale Board
Update On Our Neighborhood Outreach Initiative
In the last month, we have delivered supplies and groceries to 23 Sunnyvale neighbors in need. These have included both neighbors with financial needs and those who fall within our more vulnerable population who can't risk exposure to Coronavirus. 100WOS members and friends volunteered to shop for needed supplies, get the word out up and down neighborhood streets that we are here to help, and make deliveries. As this newsletter goes out, 100WOS volunteers are making phone calls to the neighbors we have already served to check in, offer friendly words, and see if anything further is needed now that we are several weeks into "shelter-in-place."
Please continue to check on our neighbors in need and let them know we can help them! They can submit the form below, just send an email listing their needs to 100womenofsunnyvale@gmail.com, or call (972)679-2184 for assistance.
We want to once again thank our generous partners Teresa and Scott Riddell and Riddell Plumbing for helping to fund this initiative!
