Preparing for Opening Mass
To dress for church services, choose clothing that is modest, respectful and joyful! A tip sheet for dressing for Catholic mass is below.
The Role of the School Resource Officer
The School Resource Officer is a cooperative program that utilizes a uniformed police officer within the school systems in Camrose, Alberta. It is a joint effort with funding from Battle River School District, Elk Island Catholic Schools and the City of Camrose. It provides both a proactive and reactive resource for the schools within our city.
Our School Resource Officer, Jon Fernhout provides support and educational programs for our grade 6 students. He is a member of the school and has a role supporting students. He is open to answer and support any students. His role inside the school is less about policing and more about community support and building relationships with students. Students with legal issues would be removed from the school and dealt with off campus and usually by a different officer than the SRO.

English Language Learner Update
Many of our English Language Learners have competed the oral benchmark tests and are now ready for the reading and writing portions, administered in groups.
English Second Language (ESL) students will be pulled from regular classes by grade groupings for about 1 ½ hours, two times on October 7th, 8th and/or 9th. Their teachers are aware of the dates and will not be scheduling any major assessments for those dates.
If your child is an ELL and you know they will be absent on one of the above dates, please contact Mrs. Nagy so an alternate time can be scheduled.
Substance Abuse Policy
We wanted to remind parents about the schools substance abuse policy as there have been concerns over youth and vaping in the media recently. Please have discussions with your children about this topic. We will have presentations to grade 8 health classes in the weeks to come on this topic as well. Our schools Substance Abuse policy is found in the handbook and below for your reference.
