COLT FAMILY NEWS
October 27, 2023
Dear Families,
Every Colton-Pierrepont Central School District student will soon be eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch at school. Starting on Nov. 1, 2023, enrolled students will no longer need to pay for school breakfast or lunch at CPCS. À la carte items and extra meals will remain available for students, but those add-ons will need to be purchased separately.
This change was made possible by the Community Eligibility Provision through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Through this provision, the USDA will reimburse Colton-Pierrepont for the cost of the free meals for the entirety of the 2023-24 school year. The change will take place automatically on Nov. 1. District families do not need to pay a fee to be eligible or take any action to enroll.
The district does ask families to consider completing and submitting a Household Income Application. These applications have already been sent home. Additional copies are available in the Main Office. The form will help ensure that Colton-Pierrepont can continue to offer this program in the future. It also helps families determine whether their children could be eligible for other helpful programs.
Happy Halloween! Have a great week!

INCLEMENT WEATHER
Not that we are hoping for snow anytime soon but we want to share the procedures for closings and delays as winter will be here sooner rather than later. If we have a weather delay or closing due to weather, families will be notified by our automated messaging system, typically no later than 6:15AM. If school is closed, we will have a traditional snow day (no remote learning) until we exhaust our emergency days.
SKI CLUB
Grades 5-12 are eligible to join ski club. There will be a student interest meeting this week after school with a parent meeting to follow during parent-teacher conferences on November 20th. Ski Club dates for this school year will be January 6, 20, 27 and February 3, & 10. Parents MUST attend the parent meeting for children to be able to participate. There are a limited number of scholarships available this year. Details will be forthcoming. Money will be due before Christmas break. The cost varies depending on equipment needs.
WINTER SPORTS REGISTRATION
Registration for winter sports is happening now! Click this link: https://cpcs-ar.rschooltoday.com/ to register your student athlete in grades 7-12 for a winter sport at CPCS. If your high school student wants to play a merger sport at another school, they must register with that school.
