Daily Reading
Students should do 20 minutes of reading daily in addition to the following activities.
Monday - Language Arts
Reading - I can ask and answer questions about what I am reading. 2.7c, 2.8e
Writing - I can brainstorm and organize my writing. 2.10c,e
Activities - Work on these activities for 1 hour.
Activity 1
Look at the anchor charts below before you watch The Night Before Summer Vacation. What questions will you have before you listen to the story? What questions might you have during the story? What questions do you have after listening to the story?

Activity 2
Pick a book or read something on Myon. Use the graphic organizer to answer the questions who, what, where, when, why, and how or go to Seesaw and complete the activity.

Read the poem, Digging, below and answer the questions about what you read. You can also go to Seesaw and do the same activity.

Activity 4
2 player activity - Deck of cards, pencil/pen/marker, and a piece of paper cut into 3 pieces. Make the > symbol on one piece, the < symbol on the 2nd piece, and the = on the third piece. Use a deck of cards and remove the face cards and tens. Each player gets 2 cards. With their 2 cards, they try to make the greatest number possible. Each player lays their cards down and have your student put in the correct symbol between the sets of cards. Whomever has the greater number wins. Play until no cards are left.
Play again, but try for the lowest number.

Activity 1
Watch Kid President: How To Change The World (a work in progress)......
He explores people's different ideas about how to make the world better. What do you think is the best way to change the world? Draw & Illustrate your ideas and share with a family member or on See Saw with your teacher.
Activity 2
Use the suggested letter format or write your own respectful letter to the president. Write it neatly or try typing it. Don't forget to sign your full name.
What suggestions do you have for the Commander in Chief? Write a letter to President Donald Trump and choose three important things that you would like him to do and explain how doing these things will make him a better leader. Have a parent help you mail your letter to:

What could you do in your family, neighborhood or community to help others? Share your ideas by writing, drawing or acting those things out with the help of your family.

Activity 1---Animal Adventures Unit-Mystery 2 of 3
Who's Calling? Why do frogs say "ribbit?"
This Science experiment is about biodiversity using the frogs of North America. In the activity you will learn to identify frogs by their unique calls and investigate which of two locations has a greater variety of frogs. After listening to recordings of frog calls, you will create words that will remind them of the sounds, and then use those words to identify frog sounds in different environments. Use Mystery Science document #285 link below.
Activity 2 Design Challenge: Glowing Bouncy Egg
Guide your child through a fun science experiment that allows them to observe the changes to an egg after it soaks in vinegar for a few days. At the end of this activity, your child should have transformed their egg into a glowing, bouncy "ball" that they can play with! Complete the Science form below about your experiment.
Activity 3
Check out OLogy! The science website for kids from the American Museum of Natural History. OLogy means "the study of." Choose an OLogy on the website and complete the activity of your choice. Share with your teacher on See Saw or your family. What did you learn? Fill out the Research or Science Experiment forms below (whichever one is appropriate.)
Activity 4
Go to Myon and choose a book about a Science topic you are interested in. Read the book. Think of a way that you can learn more about the subject/topic. Can you think of an experiment you can do to learn more? Write it down or search on OLogy to see if there is more information that can help you. Complete the Science Experiment form below.
Activity 5
Check out www. generationgenius.com. This site has online science videos and lessons K-5. It is free and no special logins are required. Investigate out a topic of your choice. Share what you learned on See Saw or with a family member and/or complete the appropriate Science forms below.
