Welcome to the first issue of the Digital Spark, the Office of Digital Learning's (ODL's) bi-weekly newsletter, to help inspire innovation and conversations around Educational Technology in the digital realm. We will sprinkle in some noteworthy events with some information about what we are up to and things we think may be of interest to you. ODL Invades Drupal Camp PA
Michael Potter and Charles Lavera will be traveling to the University of Pittsburgh on September 22 - 23 to present topics spanning several educational technologies (GitHub, H5P, and Web Components) at the 4th annual Drupal Camp PA. The event features a variety of informative learning sessions, keynote-speakers, and workshop opportunities designed to facilitate collaboration and highlight modern web advancements in the Drupal community. OL 2000: Essentials of Online Teaching
OL 2000 is an instructor-led online-only course that provides online teachers with a solid foundation in the essentials of online teaching and learning. Activities will focus on discussion management, assessment techniques, developing learning activities, reflective practice, and planning for future development and community building. This course is “asynchronous,” meaning that while there will be assignments due at specific times during each week, you can log on and learn according to your schedule. Expect to spend 4–7 hours/week on course activities.
