NEW! Message from the Principal

It has been a great week at Mesa Verde and I can't believe it was the last full week of September! This week I've spent a lot of time meeting one-on-one with staff members and one of the things that has been most evident from my time with them is that this staff LOVES our students, this school, and the community we are in. And how could they not?? Every student greets you with a smile, a wave, and a warm hello; parents are supportive of their children, the teachers and staff, and the school; and the community embraces our school and our students. I'm so proud to be a member of this Eagle family!

As I mentioned in the September 10th Eagle Newsletter, our focus this year is on Relationships, Inclusion, Supports, and Experiences so we can RISE Together. Next Monday, our staff will engage in professional learning focused primarily on relationships, supports, and experiences.

As a part of our focus on supports, conferences will occur Tuesday - Friday. Conferences are a great opportunity for parents, teachers, students, and counselors to work together to identify student strengths, barriers to success, supports and interventions, and to make a plan to move forward and ensure student success.

We are looking forward to a great week of working together!

Your Proud Principal,

NEW! Schedule for Week of 9/27-10/1

Monday, September 27, is Professional Growth Day so there is no school on this day.

September 28 to October 1 is Conference Week so we will have minimum days on these days which means dismissal will be at 12:07 pm. IMPORTANT: there is no late start on Wednesday (9/29). Please see the schedules below.

NEW! Student Drop off and Pick Up

The safety of our students is important and we want to remind you to please observe all posted speed limits and “No Stopping” signs along Entreken Way. Drop off and pick up of students for Mesa Verde is in the 6th grade parking lot and should not block the bus zone along Entreken. We also want to be good neighbors to our community members, so please watch out for bikes and pedestrians and avoid stopping or parking in front of driveways. Be sure to allow extra time in the morning to help ensure all our students get to school safely. Thanks for your understanding and support.

NEW! MVMS School Site Council

Thanks to all parents for supporting MVMS School Site Council with your vote for a new member. Congratulations to parent Yuan Liu who will serve on our council for the next two years.

NEW! PTSA Reflections Program

The 2021 theme is "I Will Change the World By...." Students may enter the categories of Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts. Entrees are due Friday, October 8, 2021. Contact pusdvolunteer@gmail.com for questions.

NEW! Did You Know…

Thank you to everyone who has donated to this year's Pledge Drive. Did you know your generous donation to the Foundation may easily be DOUBLED?! Many companies in our community have programs that match employee donations to qualified charitable organizations, such as the Mesa Verde Foundation. Please check with your HR department, or use this link to see if your company offers matching. Doubling your gift can be as easy as making a phone call or sending an email to your company! If you have any questions or need assistance regarding corporate matching, please contact our treasurer, Carolyn Russell at mvmsfoundationtreasurer@gmail.com.

We rely on our parent community to make this school everything it can be for our students, and we truly appreciate your support. Donations can be made online at https://mvmsfoundation.org/pledgedrive.html.

Thank you for all you do for our Eagles!

NEW! Eagle Shout Outs

Our volunteers help with events throughout the school year including 6th grade Olympics, 7th grade History Faire, 8th Grade Constitutional Challenge and Promotion. Although we are currently limiting our volunteers at this time due to the pandemic, we are preparing for when we do need volunteers. Under the new guidelines, volunteers must be fully-vaccinated and show proof of vaccination. If you would like more information, please contact Amanda Lane at (858) 538-5478 or alane@powayusd.com.

Sign up here if you would like to hear more.

Library Volunteers

We need help assisting and supervising students during our busy lunch periods. Volunteers may choose which day of the week and how often you would like to come in (once a week, every other week, once a month, etc.) If you are interested please contact Heather Ryan: hryan@powayusd.com. We will collect this information now to have it in preparation for when volunteers are allowed.

If you are not sure if you are an approved volunteer, contact Amanda Lane at alane@powayusd.com.

Eagle Center Needs Your Support

The Eagle Center needs your support! Each day, over 50 students take advantage of the services in the Eagle Center each lunch period – yours may be one of them! Our students enjoy playing board games, chess, doing art activities, reading, or talking with friends. Our students would love to have additional Chess sets and decks of Uno! If you have any gently used chess or card decks, or can donate a new set, the students would greatly appreciate it! Please drop off any donations at the front desk. Thank you!
