Help us Welcome Marina Matus De Garcia to Prestwick's Admin Team
Hello my name is Marina Matus De Garcia and I have been part of the Little Elm family since 2010.
I am excited to join our Lobos at Prestwick and am looking forward to working with the students, staff and the community. For the last three years, I have been serving the students and staff at Lakeside Middle School as an assistant principal. This will be my 16th year in the field of education and I have worked in various roles such as Math/Science Specialist at Hackberry Elementary. I have also taught in California in the private school setting and taught bilingual education at various grade levels here in Texas.
I received my bachelor’s degree in English from the University of California, Los Angeles. (Go Bruins!) I received my Master’s in Education from Concordia University, Austin. One of my goals as an educator is to build relationships with parents, students and the staff so that students can reach their full potential.
I reside in Little Elm with my husband and two sons that attend Little Elm schools. I enjoy spending time with my family and taking road trips to visit new places in the great state of Texas and going back to Los Angeles to visit family and friends. I look forward to meeting all of you soon!
Help Us Wish Felipe Vargas Good Luck on his new role at Lakeside
It has been my great honor and pleasure to serve the students, families, and staff of Prestwick STEM Academy. I am grateful for the opportunity to assist in moving the campus forward and supporting the social, emotion, and academic growth of each student. I am proud of what we have been able to accomplish together, #PSA4Life.
Thank you all for your ongoing support and I look forward to serving the Lobo FamiLE of Lakeside Middle School.
Respectfully,
Felipe Vargas

WorldStrides Splash Into Science Trip
Prestwick students traveled to Florida for WorldStrides "Splash into Science!" educational trip. Science teacher Lisa Stevens took 27 students to Key Largo, FL for an epic adventure! Activities included - swimming with dolphins, snorkeling lessons and coral reef trip, touring a sea turtle rehabilitation and recovery hospital, kayaking through the mangroves, study of marine macro-invertebrates to determine water quality and touring several parks in the Everglades. We fed tarpin, held jelly fish, saw manatees, alligators and sharks and so much more. In our down time, we did a lot of swimming, eating ice cream and souvenir shopping. Mrs. Stevens greatly appreciates teacher chaperones Manuel Castillo (PSA Tech-Apps) and Kaylee Measels (PSA - World Cultures) and parent chaperones Joe Mills and Melanie Mayes.
It was definitely the #besttripever!!
