Specials for the Week of November 3rd- 7th
P.E. will be on Wednesday and Friday next week. Please wear tennis shoes. Please return your library book on Monday so you can check out another one.
Camden Broadnax was our Star of the Week. We loved seeing all of his pictures and loved his soccer trophy!!
We had SO much fun on our field trip to Corn Dawgs!! Thank you to all the parents who helped out- you ROCK! A special Thank you to Mrs. Carter and Mrs. Rogers for planning our Halloween centers on Thursday. Thank you also to the parents that helped out with our centers and those who sent in special goodies. We love to celebrate in kindergarten!
There will be no school on Tuesday, November 4th!

LANGUAGE ARTS
We are working on:
- Building our sight word vocabulary- (Work on Words): Our new words this week: were, no, saw, me, that
- Recognizing upper and lowercase letters, learning letter sounds, and recognizing color words
- Working on recognizing rhyming words
- Counting, blending, and segmenting syllables
- Features of non-fiction text
- Finding information in non-fiction text
- Creating pictures and phonetically spelling words to tell a story- focusing on setting & characters
- Working in guided reading groups- please have your child read the book to you and return it the next day
- Working independently in Daily Five centers to become better readers, writers, and spellers

We are working on:
- BUILDing Mathmeticians during our Math Workshop
Using math manipulatives to learn about shapes and numbers
Daily calendar math
- Counting by tens and ones to 100
- Writing numbers and counting sets to 20
- 1-1 correspondence
- Comparing sets- more, less, same
- Using "number talks" to explain our math thinking
SCIENCE & SOCIAL STUDIES
We are working on:
- Learning about the life-cycle of the pumpkin.
- Pumpkin Investigation: physical characteristics and decomposition of a pumpkin.
- Learning about animals on the farm and the role they play
Craig Character Award
Katelyn Williams earned the Craig Character award for showing responsibility! She will be recognized on the Craig news show next week.
REMINDERS
- No School on Tuesday, November 4th!
- Fall school picture make-ups on Wednesday, November 5th!
- Brookwood Schools Foundation invites you to an "All You Can Eat" Pancake dinner (served by the Brookwood Cluster Principals) on Thursday, November 6th from 5:00- 8:00 p.m. at McDonalds.
- Please send in cylinder containers to make drums for our Thanksgiving skit AND send in a short sleeved white t-shirt for our Indian costumes. The girls will need a BIGGER size to make a dress (probably Youth XL)
- Mark your calendars for Friday, November 21st at 8:45 a.m. Kindergarteners will perform a skit about the First Thanksgiving and then have a feast!
