Rethink Your Drink

Staff and students are once again going healthy here at Tohickon Middle School. We will continue to work collaboratively with the Alliance for a Healthier Generation and Fuel Up to Play 60. We are currently raising the first generation that will have a shorter life span than their parents. With this in mind, our goal is to encourage a healthy lifestyle for all of our students and staff by promoting good decisions concerning nutrition and physical activity.

This year’s theme is entitled “Rethink Your Drink.” It focuses on the importance of drinking less soda and more water and/or milk! Giving up soft drinks can be one of the best things you can do to improve your health. With this in mind, we gave students sixteen reasons to stop drinking soda and to start drinking water! We are also offering our students breakfast and snack baskets this year. Every week students are challenged to answer the Riddle of the Week based on the health topic of the month. Topics this year will include drinking water and milk, eating less sugar and salt, eating fresh vegetables and fruits, dairy products, grains, and sun safety, to name just a few!

We celebrated "GOT MILK" month here at Tohickon in December. We had the Turkey Hill cow visit us for a week. We also offered our students and staff a glass of milk from Penn View Farm. Their chocolate milk is outstanding! Ask any student who tried it! Penn View Farm is located in Perkasie.
