BHMS Principal's Update 6/6/22
Final Two Weeks
Keeping Up with What is Going on at the Hill!!!
I hope everyone had a restful weekend and was able to enjoy the beautiful weather. We had a fun movie night on Friday at the school. Thanks to Mrs. Finn for organizing that. As of now it seems as if all the events planned will go off as organized. Last Thursday, we obtained the CALI scores which keeps us in the orange the rest of the week. As long as we stay in the orange and don't escalate to the red, there are no changes in protocol we need to make
While we have approximately 9 days left of the 2021-22 school year, we ask parents to have conversations with their children about finishing strong grade wise and behavior wise. We want as many people to be able to participate in end of the year class events. The time is not over until students arrive at home after taking the bus that last day. Please, please encourage the students to make responsible decisions so they can fully enjoy the remainder of the year.
For 8th grade parents, I will be sending out very specific information this week about 8th grade recognition. Please view that letter in its entirety when it comes out. There is a ton of information in there from parking to eligibility to itinerary.
For Current 5th Grade Families/Rising 6th Grade Families, please encourage each other sign up for the reminds. Current 5th grade families should check out the link below to sign up for the transition camp days (August 16 and 17, 2022). If your family is out of town that day, no worries, there will be plenty of opportunities for your rising 6th grader to see the school.
Sincerely,
Mike D'Ostilio

For 8th Graders and Their Families (Six Flags Eligibility and 8th Grade Recognition)
- This will be in the back lot, so parents should park in the front and walk to the back.
- Bunker Hill 8th Graders will be expected to be at BHMS at the regular time for the start of school 7:45 am.
- We can accommodate 4 family members per student. However, families should bring their own chairs. Families can begin setting up their chairs at 8:15 - 8:30AM
- The ceremony will run approximately 1 hour. Students will be expected to return back to class for 8th grade festivities for the remainder of the day
- This is not a graduation ceremony but a recognition ceremony. Therefore, students can walk and participate as an 8th grade. However, if a student has not earned passing marks in at least 5 out of the 7 classes, that student has not met promotion requirements to the 9th grade. Therefore a certificate of completion cannot be given. However, successful completion of summer school and meeting with the principal will be necessary prior to the event.
Very important...8th grade Bulldogs should make sure all their grades are solidified. This means talking with teachers, staying after to make up work, and retaking tests based on the parameters and timelines. Parents/Guardians, please monitor your child's Schoology Pages to keep tabs on your child's grades.
More formal letters will be coming shortly regarding end of the year festivities for 8th graders. Please click on the "8th Grade Information" image below.
