Benbrook HS

Your Bobcat Wrestling team kept rolling this weekend. With both the boys and girls winning the first ever FWISD championship over 10 other teams. Thank you to all of you who came out and supported our kids this weekend. With a special thanks to our amazing Booster Club, Petty Officer Simon and JCC for letting us borrow their flags and Connor Sandquist for singing the National Anthem. We were so happy to host the other Fort Worth schools. Every school fought hard and showed a lot of class throughout the entire tournament.

Your Bobcat Wrestling teams competed hard last night against the Aledo Bearcats. The girls won the dual in a close battle 36-30, and the boys battled hard and were winning after 8 of the 14 matches. However, they came up a bit short in the end. Very proud of all of our Wrestlers, Merry Christmas!!!

Trimble Tech HS

The Trimble Tech wrestling team competed at the FWISD Championships in Benbrook on Saturday. Ximena Ibarra and Athena Acuna got 2nd place in the 114lbs and 145lbs classes. Alex Arreguin got 4th place in the 157lbs; Jesus Saucedo got 5th in the heavyweight division. Damian Varela

Saturday morning our cougar wrestling team traveled to Benbrook High School for an all-Fort Worth ISD wrestling tournament. Special invitation was given to Fort Country Day School and Birdville High School, who brought regional and State qualifing wrestlers.

Our boys held their own and they all finished in the Top 6 of their weight class. We have a young team but I'm excited about the future. Trishtan Willis finished 3rd in the 190 weight class; First year wrestler Tyler Willis finished 4th over all in the 165 weight class; Tavares Hamilton had two regional qualifiers in his group and finished 4th over all in the 150 weight class; Javares Hamilton finished 4th over all in the 144 weight class; First year wrestler Fernando Gutierrez finished 6th over all in the 138 weight class...

Fernando holds a special place in my heart because he was a kid that could've slipped through the cracks. He is a very misunderstood ESL kid who didn't benefit from asynchronous school. He's way behind in education but wrestling has brought life back to the classroom because he wants to pass and participate. Thank you all for what you do for our kids because it takes a village. #GoCougars

FWISD MS Basketball

Elder MS

Last night our 7A and 8A Lady Yearling Teams played with GRIT. Although 7th grade fell short to Benbrook, our Game Day MVP was Liliana Martinez, scoring 12 of the 14 points (2 of them being 3 pointers).

8th grade brought the intensity right at the jump and fought hard until the last second of the game. They beat William James 25-23. Leading scorer was Angeleena Najera with 13 points! However, our Game Day MVP went to Aaralyn Perez, for her incredible defense and control of the ball the entire game as point guard. These girls are now 2-2 this season and they are eager to keep playing after the break!

Wlliam James MS

The William James Lady Bears gave a surprise birthday recognition to Coach Holmes before playing a tough matchup versus Leonard Middle School on Monday (12/5). The Lady Bears are making gains each week in skill, discipline and team bonding.

Elder MS

Congrats to our JP Elder Female Athletes of the Week.

Genesis Triana is a coachable athlete who shows up and gets work done. She may be a little quiet, but one thing is for sure, she is always doing what is asked and puts 100% effort anytime she is on the court, track, or weight room! To add to that, she is also an A-honor roll student!

Angeleena Najera is also extremely coachable and patient. She attacks every challenge with tenacity and a great mindset. She displays her leadership each day and for everyone to see!

Angela Alvarado is one of the best FWISD Basketball Managers we could ask for! On top of that, Angela works very hard in athletics and displays strong leadership qualities. She lights up every room with her smile and positive vibes!

Congrats again ladies!! 🤘🏽
