Principal's Message

Hello Bulldog families!


Student Grades:

We have only 10 school days (2 weeks) until the end of Semester 1. Parents, Guardians, and Students: please review your student's academic progress on the MyStudent parent portal. You can view your student's grades, missing assignments, attendance and tardies, and discipline. Now is the perfect time to contact your student's teachers or for a parent, teacher, grade level admin conference so we can help support you and your student.


Student Discipline and Dress Code:

We are continue to see an increase in student behaviors and an unwillingness by some to attend class or homeroom. We will hold students accountable for their behavior choices, will continue with normal dress code expectations, class attendance and hall pass expectations, and behavior expectations. We are following the Pasco County Schools Student Code of Conduct and Dress Code guidelines for all students. We encourage all students and parents to review the Pasco County School Student Code of Conduct and Dress Code.


COVID-19:

The District's COVID response plan is posted on the Pasco County Schools website. Parents can check the district dashboard for updates on positive COVID cases.

  • The COVID-19 Daily Report will be updated on the district website each school day. It will report the number of daily confirmed COVID-19 cases among students and staff. Parents are encouraged to review the Daily Report to stay up to date regarding COVID-19 cases at their student’s school.
  • Direct notification will be limited to students or staff who are required to quarantine.
  • Students will NOT need to quarantine until/unless they develop symptoms or become unable to pass the self-screener found on the the ZHS and Pasco County Schools websites.

  • Please monitor your student for symptoms and use the self-screener. If your student is not feeling well, please do not send them to school.


We continue to take many precautions for student and staff safety that include cleaning supplies in every classroom/work area, social distancing, optional wearing of masks/face barriers, Public Service Announcements (in this newsletter, on the daily School Announcements, and more), hand sanitizer all over campus, and more.


Construction updates:

The locker rooms have opened, and the 300 hallway and Media Center are now open as well.


Closed Campus:

ZHS is a closed campus for lunch. Students are expected to remain on campus for the entire school day and do not have permission to leave campus for lunch. Additionally, outside food, food delivery, and food sales is not allowed, as it jeopardizes our Free and Reduced Meal status. These deliveries will be refused.


We will navigate these challenges and we will have a GREAT year!

Soccer Parking Update!

Now that construction is nearly finished, we are moving all parking for soccer games to the practice football field. There will be no more soccer parking available in the gym parking lot. There will be no ticket taker there and gates will be locked at that entry point. Please plan to enter the stadium at the main gate by the concession area. Thank you!

Angel Tree @ ZHS

If you would like to participate in providing Holiday presents for ZHS students in need, please take an Angel Tree ornament from the tree in the ZHS front office. Be sure to tell us the number you took so we can make sure all tags are completed/returned. Thank you!

Congrats to our ZHS Cheer Squads!

At the UCA Central Florida Regionals Competition at the Tampa convention Center, our Bulldogs earned 9th in Traditional Competition and 3rd place in Game Day! We will move on to National Competition in February!!

Congratulations to the ZHS JROTC Bulldog Battalion!

At the most recent competition, your ZHS Bulldogs placed 3rd Let 1 C/G, 3rd Let 1 armed SQ, 1st Female armed SQ, Summerall 3rd ex, Stuckey 2nd ex, and Gutierrez 4th. Way to go, Bulldogs! We are so proud of you!

SAT/ACT Bootcamps!

SAT/ACT Bootcamp Sessions are held every Monday and Wednesday from 2pm-3pm. Snacks are provided. See Mr. Santiago if you have any questions.

Congratulations to the 21-22 Outstanding Senior!

This year's ZHS Outstanding Senior is Kamil Mehrab!

He will be interviewed at the District Office on November 17 for the opportunity to be selected as the Pasco County's Outstanding Senior. We are so proud of you!

Congratulations to ZHS Senior Caitlyn Regan!

She was chosen to represent all of Pasco County as the U.S. Presidential Academic Scholar nominee for our area! She will move on to the Florida Department of Education level for consideration as a State nominee!


In order to qualify, Caitlyn had to demonstrate excellence in Career/Technical Education coursework, community service and involvement, academic scholarship, rigorous coursework, and and an exemplary SAT/ACT score.


Good luck at the state level, Caitlyn! We are so proud of you! She will be recognized at a School Board Meeting on December 14th!

Extended School Day

Extended School Day is ongoing! If your student needs to recover classes and/or bring up their GPA, please have them see their grade level administrator, school counselor, or graduation coach. All grade levels are invited. Transportation and snacks will be provided.


Extended School Day is every Monday and Wednesday through 3/11/21, 2:00-4:45pm, excluding non-school days.

Outside Food/Food Deliveries

Students are not allowed to have outside restaurant food on campus and are not allowed to have food delivered to campus. DoorDash and other food delivery services are NOT allowed. We jeopardize losing our status as a Free/Reduced Breakfast and Lunch school if we have unauthorized competition with the cafeteria. We are a closed campus for lunch and during the school day. Students may not leave campus and get food. If you have any questions about these requirements, contact Dr. Stanley at cstanley@pasco.k12.fl.us.

Outside food, candy, chips, beverage sales PROHIBITED

Students are not permitted to sell food, candy, chips, or beverages on campus. We do have fundraisers ongoing, but they are not during the school day. Many of our students and staff have allergies and we cannot compete with the cafeteria. No outside food, candy, or beverage sales are allowed. Students who do not follow these procedures are subject to school discipline.

ZHS Sports Tryout Information

**All student-athletes MUST have a fully completed physical packet turned in and cleared BEFORE you may tryout or practice. This packet is found on the ZHS website under the athletics tab. No completed, cleared packet? No tryout. No exceptions.**

Student Parking Passes 21-22

1. You must purchase a 21-22 student parking pass online when you pay your fees.

2. All parking passes will be processed and distributed during student lunches by Ms. Ashley.

3. You must have copies of your driver's license, current registration, and current proof of insurance to receive your parking pass during lunches.

4. All students, including students who drove last year, must purchase a new parking pass each year and provide updated vehicle information. Parking passes are only good for the school year.

Dress for Success and Show your School Spirit!

At ZHS on Wednesdays, all students and staff are encouraged to wear their favorite College and Career attire, AVID gear, or Academy gear. Take your post-high school plans to the Next Level!


On Fridays at ZHS, all students and staff are encouraged to wear Bulldog gear or Bulldog colors (Orange and Black). Show your school spirit!

Arrival to School in the Morning

  • Buses will drop off in the front bus loop off of 12th Street. This loop is CLOSED to all car traffic from 6:45 to 7:25 a.m. DO NOT PASS THE BUSES.
  • Student drop off is in the Gym parking lot off of Henry Street. Please pull all the way forward to drop off your student in front of the doors leading to the gym lobby.
  • Upon arrival from a car or bus, students can get their breakfast from the nearest mobile cart or cafeteria line and then head to the cafeteria or their 1st period class to eat.
  • Students who do not eat breakfast at school will be expected to go directly to their 1st period class as soon as they arrive on campus.

Seating Charts and Sign in Sheets

Again this year, all students will have assigned seats in their classes. The teacher will determine all classroom seating assignments and students are expected to remain in their seats.


When in another classroom not on their schedule, students will need to sign in and take a seat as directed by the teacher.

ZHS School Advisory Council (SAC)

What is a School Advisory Council?

  • The school Advisory Council is the means for community and parent involvement in and support of the schools.
  • The School Advisory Council is composed of the principal, teachers, school staff, parents, business and community representatives, and secondary students.

How can I become a SAC member?

  • Elected members of the School Advisory Council include teachers, educational support personnel, parents, and secondary students.
  • Members are also appointed to the council by the principal to represent business and the community.
  • Students serve as SAC members for a one year term.
  • A chairperson is elected annually by the SAC membership.


Any parent, community business member, teacher, or student interested in serving on our SAC committee for the 2021-2022 school year--please email Mrs. McCafferty at cmccaffe@pasco.k12.fl.us for a nomination form. This is a great way to get involved and stay connected to your Bulldog family.
