Has your child been practicing keyboarding skills from home? Each student has been given a unique username and password to use the website in order to complete the core lessons in a systematic order. Strong keyboarding skills will be essential going forward in your child's education. Check out your child's progress. All login info is kept in the front of your child's agenda. You and your child can check posted scores from graded assignments using the BCPSone log in code.

We are beginning our next unit this week called "We Are the Stories We Tell" where we will focus on the following two questions: "What makes a person memorable?" and "How do journeys shape a person's identity?" Using this focus we will be reading some autobiographical short stories while working on the skills of identifying main idea and supporting details, and summarizing, Students will continue to make comparisons between two texts along the way. I am slowly integrating more use of available technology via laptops to access resources and create projects. Stay posted.

AR goal for term 2 remains the same. Check a book's reading level and Lexile level with the link below.

We are almost half way through the unit called "As a Matter of Fact". This week and next students will identify the difference between an acid and a base by testing some substances with litmus paper. In additional, there will a demonstration on the difference between a physical change and a chemical change before moving on by performing investigations on chromatography and fingerprinting. It is expected that the students draw conclusions from these tests to solve a "Lemonade Mystery" as described in the student data booklet. Students should be bringing green science folders home nightly to review. An end of unit test will take place on Tues., Nov. 24 or Wed., Nov. 25.
