Dear Thacher Families:

Wow....what a difference a week makes, from - temps last Friday to temps in the 60's today! Thankfully, we'll be back to seasonal temperatures by the end of the weekend.

Thank you to our hardworking PTO and volunteers for making the Scholastic Book Fair such a huge success.

Read Across Thacher/ELC

March 2nd is National Read Across America Day! Our school will be recognizing this special day, which started back in 1998 by the National Education Association, with a number of activities and a new challenge to foster excitement in reading. We are looking for volunteers to come and read to our students. Families are invited to visit your child's classroom and read a book of your choice. This is on a first come first serve basis. There will be 2 slots per day for each class room. 1 reader from 9:00- 9:15 and a 2nd reader from 9:15-9:30! Please review the available slots on the Sign Up Genius below and click on the button to sign up. Thank you!

Recess Panda Paws Winners

Every month we will be spotlighting students who go above and beyond to make good choices and solve problems at recess. Staff members are on the look out for exceptional Panda Pride during outdoor and indoor recess! During our monthly Panda Pride assembly, the grade level recess winners are announced. Winners get to take a photo with Mr. Rich/Mrs. Desautel or both on our greenscreen and the photos are send home to their families. We are so proud of December and January Recess Panda Pride Winners!

Hooray for the 100th Day!

Both Kindergarten and Grades 1-4 celebrated their 100th days of school this week!

This Week in Health

Students have been learning about various ways to lead a healthy lifestyle. Students participated in a healthy teeth lesson, where they learned different ways to keep their teeth strong, clean and healthy to protect against cavities. Ideas that were brought up were brushing teeth, flossing, using mouthwash, going to the dentist, and eating less sugary foods.

Not everyone's favorite place is going to the doctors, but students this week learned the importance of the doctors. Students shared ideas of some tests that doctors may do during a check up. Students shared ideas on some of the questions a doctor might ask you. Followed up by a class discussion students from all grade levels participated in one of their favorite games Dr. Dodgeball!

Stay well,

Mr. Henry - Health Teacher
