Art Instruction funding for 2021-2022
April 12, 2021
Hello Parents!
It's live! Below is the link to the Charity Go Fund me page for LaMotte School Foundation. All funds raised here will be used to fund the Art Program at LaMotte for the 2021-2022 school year. Please send this link to your families and friends. Spread the word!
If you would like to donate and do not want to use Go Fund Me, you are welcome to send a check to school made to LaMotte School Foundation.
Remember that it costs about $150/student a year to run the program, that's just over $4.00 for each hour lesson.
Thank you for your support! Your donations are tax deductible!

Spring Weather
We are asking parents to please make sure your child(ren) have layers and a coat daily. Just a double check in the morning will help ensure the kiddos stay warm and dry while outside at recess.
Thank you!
Election News
Registered voters will be receiving a mail-in ballot before May 4 (which is Election Day).
Technology Acquisition and Depreciation Fund Levy
You will see that the school is asking for our voters to approve a $15,000/year Technology Levy for 10 years. The funding from this levy covers the cost of technology replacement and repair, internet access, phone charges, learning software licenses, and it pays for the services of a Technology Coordinator. Without this levy, we would not be able to continue the robust teaching and learning at LaMotte. The cost of this levy is $5.68 for a $100,000.00 home.
Please visit the following link for additional information: Resolution 3-20-21 Intent to Increase nonvoted levies.pdf (lamotteschool.com)
Trustee Election
Per 20-3-313, MCA, if the number of candidates filing for trustee is equal to or less than the number of positions to be elected, the election may be cancelled and the candidates declared elected by acclamation. Due to the fact that there were two trustee positions to be elected and only one candidate filed, the LaMotte Board cancelled the trustee election. Per the Gallatin County Election Department calendar, ballots must be finalized prior to the day the Board can cancel the trustee election. The trustee contest will appear on the ballot, but it has been officially cancelled/acclaimed.
Building News!
Building News!
At the school board meeting on Tuesday, March 23, the trustees voted to hire Architecture 118, LLC from Bozeman to assess our current building, the land, the annex, and all the infrastructure on our site. The purpose of this assessment is to determine what is the best avenue to creating additional learning spaces for our students. A team of engineers, contractors, architects, electricians and plumbers were here over spring break. They studied all aspects of our land and buildings. At the April school board meeting, they will present several options for ways to replace the space our annex offers for learning. As I mentioned in the last update, the annex is reaching the end of its safe and efficient life for learning.
The three options could be replacing the annex with a new building on the same footprint where the annex is, or building in another location on our property, or adding on to the current building. The architectural team will present the conceptual options at our April board meeting, April 28 at 5:00 at the school. We will have a Zoom option for attending the meeting as well.
This is all a very exciting step toward improving the learning environment for our students and staff. Your input is welcome and invited. We will be creating a Building Committee consisting of board members, staff, and community members to help guide the process. If you are interested in participating on the committee, please contact me, either by phone or email. Thanks.

CDC recommendations & cleaning masks daily
The CDC has updated their information on the importance of wearing masks during the pandemic. Visit this site to see what they are suggesting for double masking, the fit of masks and why it is so important that we all continue to wear our masks in public. Thanks for checking this out Click here
I am so proud of our students at LaMotte for wearing their masks willingly and consistently! Please remember that masks should be CLEANED each day and when the kids are outside their masks often get wet so please send them with more than one clean mask each day. Thank you - we are all doing our best to keep everyone healthy. Your efforts have been remarkable and so appreciated. Thank you for working with us.
