Q & A

CrossRoads Internship is an opportunity for you to dedicate a season of your life to the local church. It is an opportunity to experience a ministry environment that will prepare you with skills and habits you can take with you. The purpose of this internship is to obey Jesus’ command to make disciples who in turn make disciples. CrossRoads Interns will choose one ministry area (i.e. kids, youth, a/v, small groups, operations). They will specifically focus their ministry efforts during their internship and they will receive special training.

What to Expect

Interns will gain experience in the following areas:
Being discipled through weekly study, prayer, and reflection.
Be mentored by your ministry-focus department leader.
Attend Leadership Trainings — make new discoveries in leadership development, spiritual growth, and ministry methods from other teams.
Participate in a small group, and then lead one!
Serve at weekly services.
Intern-only opportunities to connect and observe other growing ministries.

CrossRoads Internship is a training ground for emerging leaders. During your intern year, you will accumulate valuable experience, mentors, and knowledge that will prepare you for stepping into the next phase of your God-given calling.

Improve understanding of effective church systems and strategy.
Improve leadership foundation through experience and teachings.

What age is ideal for the Internship?

We don’t have an ideal age, just an ideal attitude. We are constantly searching for self-starters, quick learners, people who love a challenge, and those with a heart to serve.

What ministry areas can an intern participate in?

Each intern will focus on one of the following ministry areas: kids, youth, a/v, Etc.

What does a typical week of internship look like?

The internship time commitment is all morning Sundays, and all evening Wednesdays, or if you are interning with the college-age/young adult ministry, all evening Fridays, and 8-12 hours flex time throughout the week.

Every Sunday and Wednesday or possibly Friday, interns should expect to help carry out various leadership roles within their designated department to pull off the services. They are considered staff members, and are on the front lines of ministry during all Sunday services. Specific responsibilities will be determined by departmental supervisors.

In the 2 hour weekly meetings, interns participate in leadership trainings, which consist of discipleship, accountability, and ministry specific training.

Over time, interns will be responsible for taking the lead on projects and teams within their ministry area.

What are the primary goals of our Internship?

1. To be a disciple and to make disciples of Jesus Christ

2. To accumulate valuable experience, mentors, and knowledge that will prepare you for stepping into the next phase of your God-given calling. Our desire is that your Internship year will give you the experience and training you need to take your next steps in living a life that matches your unique gifts with God’s specific purpose for your life.

What qualifications are you looking for in Interns?

We look for people who have a clear sense of being called to serve others and dare to dream big dreams for the Kingdom of God. Specific experience in the desired ministry focus area is certainly favored. We also place a high value on attitude, flexibility, sense of humor, and the ability to work within a team environment.

When are the dates for the program?

This is a one year (3 trimester) commitment with new interns being accepted every Trimester. Trimesters begin in January, May and September.

What is the admission process?

Complete the application and submit it. For priority consideration, submit your application at least 2 months prior to your desired starting trimester.

What is the cost to attend the internship?

There is no cost to participate in the internship if accepted.

Will the intern have any vacation days?

Your commitment will be Sundays and Wednesdays (or Sundays and Fridays if interning with College-Age). Each intern will have 1 week of vacation (1 Sunday, 1 Wednesday or Friday) per trimester, plus an additional week off between each trimester.

Can I have outside employment?

Absolutely! It is our expectation that most, if not all, interns will secure outside employment. We ask, however, that ministry expectations and time requirements take precedent over outside work schedules on Sundays and Wednesdays or Fridays.

Do I need to have a car?

You will be responsible for your own transportation.

Is anyone who wants to automatically accepted as an intern?

No. CrossRoads’ internship is not the right place for everyone who applies, nor is everyone who applies right for CrossRoads. We have a limited number of available internship spots each trimester.
