Fall Parties - October 30th

On October 30th, PTA will be hosting the Fall Party for grades K-5. Each grade level gets a 40 minute party in the gym and then a 10 minute snack time.

PTA will need parent volunteers for each grade level time. Please see the schedule below and begin planning to help if you can. A reminder that other siblings are not allowed to attend the parties. Please make child care arrangements if you plan to attend. Also, on TH night they will decorate the Gym for the event. If you have time or items to donate for the day, let Brandy Mehrer know. mehrer6@att.net

This year we are having student led conferences. This is a chance for your child to tell you all about how they are doing in school. They will share their leadership notebooks, talk to you about their strengths and also work with you to set goals for next quarter. Please come ready to be amazed by their leadership. The teacher will also be providing you with the 1st quarter grade card, but that will no longer be the star of the show.

Leadership Academy Time

One Friday a month, we are having what we call Leadership Academy Time. This is a time for all of our students to be engaged in 7-habit and Leadership Role Training. Our Kindergarten students stay in the classroom and get a 7-habit centered lesson. Our 1st and 2nd grade students all come to the gym and get a 7-habit centered lesson. Our 3rd and 4th grade students are rotating through all the teams and observing what the building wide leadership roles are all about. Our 5th and 6th grade students are meeting with their leadership teams and staff sponsors to discuss their role and how they can use that role to benefit the building. This is a great time and I encourage you to talk to your child(ren) about it. Last Friday was the second one of the year.

Can you help??

For the 1st and 2nd grade group, it takes many volunteers to make that time a success. I can not thank those that have helped enough; as the past two times have been wonderful and all because of the adults that gave of their time. If you have time to help, please visit the link for the next two dates and times. Anyone can help - you do not need to have a 1st or 2nd grade student. THANKS for considering!

Dear Families,

Our school has been excited to launch Connect2Learn, our district’s one-to-one Chromebook program, and to watch the positive impact these digital devices have on student learning and achievement. As part of our launch of Connect2Learn, the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District is working with a non-profit organization to make it easier for all families to be connected to the Internet. The organization, known as EveryoneOn, was created to ensure that low-cost, high-speed Internet service is available to families qualifying based on income.

Through partnerships with leading Internet providers, EveryoneOn is able to offer Internet service for as low as $9.95 per month for individuals and families qualifying based on income. Families who are eligible for the free/reduced lunch program meet these qualifications and are encouraged to consider taking advantage of this offer.

To determine which reduced-price Internet offers are available, visit EveryoneOn.org/lsr7 or text “connect” to 215-45. You may also call (855) EVRY1ON. To find low-cost offers available in your area, you will be asked to provide your zip code and to answer questions related to family income levels, such as eligibility for the free/reduced school lunch program. Most families with children qualifying for free/reduced lunch program would qualify for several low-cost Internet options ranging from $9.95 to $20 per month.

Thank you for your support of our school and your involvement in our learning community.

Sincerely,

Ms. Mallette
