Northern Zone Athletics
Thank you to Ali Sprott for organising for our students to attend this event yesterday. An additional thank you to all the parents who helped transport and support our students, we couldn’t run these events without you.
We have had positive parent feedback about how well behaved our students were and how they all cheered for each other, which is fantastic.
Swimming Lessons
Towards the end of last term, a notice came home about swimming lessons at Cannon’s Creek pool later this term. We would appreciate the permission slip being signed and returned as soon as possible so that we can work out numbers and liaise with the pool. If you have any questions, please contact Jenni jharrison@paparangi.school.nz
Te Korowai o Horokiwi Kapa Haka Festival Term 4 - Friday 18th November
The year 6 students will be going to Newlands Intermediate on Friday the 18th to perform as the Paparangi School Kapa Haka group. There is a powhiri at 10am to welcome everyone. Then the performances will begin at 11am. Rewa Rewa will perform first, followed by Bellevue then Paparangi. Newlands Primary will follow us, then we will break for lunch. Students will need to bring their own lunch and water. Newlands Intermediate are putting on a sausage sizzle for the students and they will receive one sausage each. Newlands Intermediate will perform at 1.15pm and we should be finished just after 1.30. We will then return to school for the afternoon. You are welcome to join us for some or all of the day, whatever you choose. Please note there is limited parking around the school so allow time to walk down.
Thursday 17 November is Reward Day!
Wow! Paparangi tamariki have been working very well to use our GROW values this term and have already earned enough GROW tokens to fill the GROW Tower! For this reward, it's WACKY HAIR DAY this Thursday. We look forward to celebrating grit, respect, wonder and caring for others like our students are showing this term.
Market Day Helpers
We are short of helpers to run stalls and games for market day on Saturday 19th November . If you are available to help, could you let Home and School know please? They can be contacted at paparangihomeandschool@gmail.com
Medication at School
Any medication brought to school MUST go to the office with the following exceptions:
Asthma inhalers should be labelled and kept in school bags, which remain zipped up, so that they are safe and close to hand when needed.
Medication for serious conditions such as diabetes and anaphylactic reactions should be left daily in the Rākau Nui medical room so they are easily available and monitored by an adult.
If you need medication to be administered to your child at school, there is a form in the office that must be completed and signed first.
Zespri Young and Healthy
During this term, Rākau Nui will be participating in the Zespri Young and Healthy Virtual Adventure. It’s a fun program that runs for 5 weeks, using the pedometers that came home last week, and encourages activity, drinking plenty of water and other simple daily actions to support health and well being. You can find more information at www.youngandhealthy.org.nz.
EOTC Week
Notices for EOTC week came home last Friday. Please return these as soon as possible to ensure that your child gets their preferred option for the Big Day Out. Please note that notices for the Year 6 day out will be sent home later this week.
Year 6 Graduation
Our Year 6 Graduation will be on Tuesday 06 December. Parents of the Year 6 students are invited to attend the graduation ceremony, arriving from 5.30pm ready for the 5.45pm start. A notice with further information will be sent home later this week.
Year 6 Digital Learning
To prevent Year 6s losing their digital work when they move to Intermediate, they should be able to log on to their Google Drive at home and download the folders with their learning in. Any learning in Seesaw can be downloaded as a PDF. This should be done before the end of the school year. If there are any problems with this, please let Jenni or Trelise know and they will try to help with that.
Grocery Raffle 2022
Your child brought home a notice about our grocery raffle today, which included the raffle sheet. Please ensure all raffle sheets are returned by Thursday 8 December.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss anything with us, please remember that your first point of contact is your child’s home class teacher. Our email addresses are:
