Blue Ash Elementary MAY
May 18, 2018
Thank you Officer Z!
Officer Z has been a constant presence at our school, and he has become like family to us. He will be retiring in July, so today he came to BAE to walk our halls and visit with students one last time. All 515 students came out to the halls to cheer him as he walked through. It was a very special moment for us all.
While we will miss Officer Z very much, we all want to wish him the best.
THANK YOU for always looking out for us!
OGB School Supply Drive
Bring any new or gently used school supplies to the OGB school supplies drive! Some things we are looking for include, binders, notebooks, paper, rulers, pencils, crayons, markers, colored pencils, pens, erasers, post-it-notes, and more. Bring all supplies to the lobby, where there will be marked bins for OGB. Thank you for helping us support our students in need!

Notes from our Nurse
Dear Parent,
Just a reminder as the school year comes to an end, your child has medication in the school clinic. At the end of the year, an adult must pick up medication by May 24th. No medication is allowed to be transported by a child. Medication remaining in the clinic office past the last day of school must be discarded. This includes inhalers and Epi-pens. Please plan to make arrangements for your student’s medication to be picked up by last day of school.
In preparation for next school year, if your student has food allergies or other allergies, asthma, seizure or diabetes, additional health forms located at the following link to our school health services page can be found at http://www.sycamoreschools.org/Page/2309 . If your child will have prescription or over the counter (OTC) medication at school next year, the doctor must sign a new medication administration form for each new school year. For your convenience a medication form has been included in this email to complete for next school year. Please, plan to do this early in the summer, so orders are on file for the first day of school. No medication may be given without a new medication administration form signed by the health care provider and parent each school year. Please email wyrickd@sycamore schools for further questions or concerns regarding your student’s health at school or medications.
If your student will be attending summer school and will need to have access to emergency medications, please contact Carolyn Mulvaney- mulvaneyc@sycamoreschools.org
I hope you and your family enjoy a healthy and safe summer.
Sincerely,
Diana Wyrick, RN, NCSN

PTO Positions Available
We are looking to fill a few PTO positions for the 2018-19 school year. There are currently 4 Slate positions open. Some of these positions are ongoing, and some are one and done. The positions can even be co-chaired if you would like to work with a friend.
The current Slate position openings are:
GREEN TEAM – Help BAE care for the environment, organize events such as Earth Day, and plan other “green” activities for the school.
SCHOOL FOR SCHOLARS CO-CHAIR – The chairs will set up the instructors and classes for our 6-week School for Scholars after school enrichment program at the beginning of 2019.
ODD COUPLES DANCE – The chair for the Odd Couples Dance will coordinate the food, DJ, decorations, and volunteers for Odd Couples dance in February 2019. This dance is for BAE students and an adult “date.”
YEARBOOK ASSISTANT – Our Yearbook chair is in need of an assistant. Next year will be her last year at BAE, so she needs someone to work with her in hopes of taking over the Yearbook at the end of next year.
The 2 current Board openings are:
COMMUNICATIONS CO-CHAIR – This Executive Board Position will assist with digital and social media, as well as handling any correspondence the PTO requires. This is a shared position for next year and you can split responsibilities and meeting attendance! The assistant would assume the role of Communications Specialist at the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year.
ASSISTANT TO THE PTO TREASURERS – The current treasurers will continue in their roles next year. It is necessary, though, to find an assistant to work with them next school year so that someone will be familiar with how the books are handled for the PTO. The assistant would assume the role of Treasurer at the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year.
If you have interest in any of the open PTO positions, please contact Victoria Margroum at bapto@sycamoreschools.org.
