Runyan Mission
Our Mission: Something to ponder...
- As my teammates and I all try to gain our footing within this new normal, how am I lightening their burden rather than adding to it?
This too shall pass... It may pass like a kidney stone, but it will pass.
Celebrations!
SAEs for this week: 28
TAEs for this week: 6
Before You come to Campus...
- Food distribution screening questions -- These questions should be used generically (not just for those distributing food). BEFORE coming to school on any given day, please screen yourself using these questions. If you are not able to pass, DO NOT come to campus.
- Campus attendance log -- We must track who is on campus at any given time in case there is a need to retrace exposure. Please complete the log found at the Google link below EVERY TIME you are one campus. This applies to ALL employees. No visitors should be allowed inside the building.
School Closure Updates as of 4.9.20
Please see my hastily written notes from the district meetings this week:
If governor says schools can open, triggers local discussions to decide if we will or won’t based on local health officials’ guidance and what our district believes is manageable
Inviting folks to donate to the food bank via the virtual food drive; food bank also needs volunteers to help sort food for distribution (groups no bigger than 10; have gloves and masks for volunteers at the food bank; they sanitize the room between each group; children as young as 7 can help as long as with an adult; 16 years and up don’t need an adult to volunteer; have permission to do it during the workday, even though we’re on the clock for school; sign up on the food bank website
No progress reports going out at end of April
Reminder to acknowledge and begin work on Safe Schools; Seizures is new, but required; Seizures and Cyber Security are state law
Grades – Technology Dept. will make adjustments to report cards to ensure 4th 9-weeks isn’t lower than 3rd 9-weeks; teachers don’t need to make their own adjustments
Graduation will have in May if at all possible, even if only limited attendance allowed; if not, then in mid-July
COVID-19 testing kits hopefully arriving soon in Mo.Co. – if desperately in need of a test, call 936-523-5040, and they will help you find a place to be tested
School Board anticipated to approve an application for T-TESS waiver. If approved, still complete summative appraisal and debrief / plan goals. SLO will not be completed.
Grading Guidelines -- Updated as of 4.8.20
This guidance is very much aligned with our current understanding, and we will proceed as planned.
Within this updated version, the district has provided guidance for PK, K and Specials. Please review and list questions / topics you'd like to discuss on your team's Monday agenda.
Exchange Day
- Acknowledge your understanding by following the directions included within the district email. Your acknowledgement is required for participation. Failure to acknowledge will mean you intend to work a typical workday on August 4th.
- Begin completing your Safe Schools coursework. To be eligible for the Exchange Day, you must complete 100% of your coursework by 12:00PM on August 3rd. Jewel and I will check completion at that time and notify those who need to report to work on August 4th.
Note: The district usually adds courses throughout the Summer. If you complete all your coursework early, be sure to check back just before the deadline to make sure something wasn't added after you thought you were through. Even things added late must be completed by the deadline in order to qualify for the Exchange Day.
