6th Grade News

Here is what's happening in 6th grade!


Between holiday's, teacher work days, and a winter storm, it feels like ages since we've had a normal schedule.

We wanted to send a quick newsletter to update you on the things that have been rescheduled, and do some quick curriculum updates.

Report Cards

Report Cards, which were originally scheduled to go home on Monday, will be sent home with students today. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Class Pictures

Class pictures, originally scheduled for 1/26, will now be taken on Monday 2/1. Information went home a few weeks ago regarding this photo opportunity. If you would like to purchase one of these photos, you can send in $5 in advance.

CiCi's Pizza Night

Tuesday, Feb. 2nd, 5-8pm

Cici's Pizza Night, originally scheduled for 1/26, will now take place on Tuesday 2/2. Johnson Street will receive 20% of sales from this entire day, if you tell them that you are with Johnson Street. This offer applies to dine-in or carry-out orders. Spread the word!

6th Grade Awards

We will once again meet in Ms. DiCarlo's room to honor students who earned honor roll, perfect attendance, and other awards. Please join us if you can. You will get notification if your child is receiving an award.

What's going on in class?

Language Arts

Students are completing their unit on argumentative texts over the next few days. Students will take their post assessment on this unit next Thursday.

Social Studies

We just finished our unit of study about ancient civilizations, and we are beginning our study of the first advanced civilizations. Students will be studying the Greeks, Romans, Dynastic China, Mauyran, Maya and Inca, Byzantium, and Kush civilizations during this 9 weeks.


Students are discussing inequalities in math. They are also learning how to solve one step equations.


In science, students have been learning about the earth's structure. They will be discussing plate tectonics in class as well.
